I stumbled across this web page.

Basically you drill holes into the trays to allow more oil to flow back to the oil pan faster rather than fill up before it overflows back to the oil pan. Here's the book's explanation of why its done. Quote:

I used the meiling 365 after my cam swap. Stock volume and pressure. 40 psi at idle when cool or dry, over 30 psi when hot and humid.

Its not the only place I have seen this. And its for gen 3 and 4. The engine will have a smaller oil pan. It will be fine. So many have done it with zero problems.
