Bluetooth issue

This may have been covered. I did a brief search and cant find this specific issue.

I have '13 2LT (non touchscreen) I can connect my smartphone just fine (Droid DNA). However, accessing the phone via hands free is a bit challenging and goes like this:

1. I press the phone icon and say "VOICE"
2. Camaro says "accessing phone"
3. My phone then activates and the hands free *(on my phone) asks me to say a command...through my phone NOT the car speakers.
4. At the same time that my phone is asking me to say a command, my car is telling me "goodbye" and hangs up both my car and my phone.

Also, if my phone has a slider lock on the car wont even make it to step 3. It will just disconnect. if I use my phone and press who I want to call it works just fine (defeats the purpose of hands free but it works)

Any help defining an issue or confirming "thats just the way it goes" would be great. Do i really have to say "voice" every time??? Seems like a step backwards from what other car companies are doing. My old car was just...Push the phone icon, say "Call ___." then the phone would call.

You should be able to just say "call" to activate your phone for hands free calling. I don't think mylink supports "Call_____". As far as your phone not waking up when locked, you'll should be able to go into settings on your phone's voice command app and set it to wake up when locked.

make sure BOTH car media audio and phone audio are both bound and working the behavior you are reporting is not normal.

my Galaxy Note2 works perfectly on it except that sometimes BT has to be restarted to get media audio to work correctly.

other than that it's as easy as pressing the button and saying "dial dad" and it does it all over the cars speakers without touching the phone.

I called OnStar and this is the route she asked that I take. The problem with this is that the car wants me to store my contacts in the car before it will recognize them. I have 150 contacts lol. Could this be the correct way?

I covered this issue in this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289991

Basically when your phone was updated to Jelly Bean the Bluetooth profile is more advanced than the OnStar module that controls the Bluetooth in your car. I have an 2011 and the normal radio and mine still does it most of the time. Read the thread and ask me anything else as I explained it pretty well and in depth.

GM can't fix it until OnStar updates the Bluetooth profiles and there is no ETA for that.

Thanks, Peter

yes you have to let it synch.

only takes a couple mins,

and I use the term DIAL and it works great.
if I say call it still recognizes me but then asks to confirm.
where if I say Dial it just does it.

That sux for me. Literally the only reason I didn't get touch screen is because the salesman said there is no difference in Bluetooth between the two... I guess i deserve it for not researching more before the purchase :( Hopefully GM gets in gear lol. Thanks so much for all of the clarification. Camaro5 users have more info than Chevy customer service and OnStar combined.

They do now as I had the car at the dealership for over a week, and had level 3 support from Motorola to help figure out what happened. The service manager was really cool about it and was a big help in looking at what was wrong.

If you use my method then you can get your phone book, and call history in the radio, and dial it from the radio. Pressing the button that says Phone on the radio twice will take you straight into the list for the Phonebook and Call history. Believe it not it takes less time to do it that way then use the voice commands.

Good luck. BTW, I tried my phone on a 2013 with MyLink, and not only did it work with Bluetooth, but also had my phone book and call history w/o moving it to Gmail.
