What does Camaro mean to you?

To me, the Camaro is a buddy, as the name implies. When you've had a hard day, you've got a friend who listens and takes you for a distracting ride. When you've had a good day, you've got someone to celebrate with you. When you go out, you've got a wingman. The Camaro is a great escape and yet a big enhancement to everyday life. Without it, you'll feel lonely. With it, you'll feel complete.

Tell me what "Camaro" means to you.

The car that my dad built for years until Norwood closed. Gave him a good job to support my mom and I.

Since I'm an older dude - the Camaro means a few simple things for me:

1) Heritage. The Camaro was being prototyped right around the time I was born. It's been a welcome friend for me literally all of my life. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly -- but yet whenever I saw one, no matter what the Gen or era, it's been like seeing/talking to an old friend again.

And, the Z/28 and the SS won many a race during the Muscle Car heyday. They earned quite a reputation for themselves.

Who can forget the looks of the '69 Indy Pace Car convertible? That is one of the iconic images from that era, that is still used/copied to this day. It's probably THE most famous Pace Car ever.

2) Pride. While the 70's and 80's era Camaros may have seen their fair-share of "questionable" appearance modifications by some individuals -- the majority of ones I've seen have been customized with tasteful pride.

There are/were virtually no limits in the way this car can be made to look/perform for nearly any taste and budget range. Nearly all Camaros that weren't thrashed to an inch of their lives in their first year were very well cared for. And the pride of these owners always showed through. They LOVE their Camaros!!!

3) Value. The Camaro has always been a fantastic blend of performance and economy. The tradition continues to this day. Enough said.

4) Manufacturer Dedication. GM may have made a HUGE mistake by cancelling the program. But - they made up for it. And, of all the ironies -- the rebirth of this car just MIGHT help make or break the Corporation!

No good deed goes unpunished, right? (that's a little vague, but I think you might get my drift).

Thanks for wading through my ramblings, again.

Camaro- noun. (Cuh-mer-o)
1) A close friend.
2) A grocery getter, a track star, a street strip bruiser, or a combination of the three
3) A device used for taming horses.

That pretty much sums up what Camaro means to me.

Easy, freedom.

When all else in your life has gone to hell and you feel like everything is out of your control you can turn the key, move the shifter, and fly down the roads in complete control of at least that little bit. You can outrace your worries and be carefree for as long as you've got gas in the tank and empty pavement ahead.

For me, the Camaro is a car that is as beautiful as any in the world. It's got a Corvette heart and handling, for half the money. It's also not expensive to repair. It's dependable. It's the best all around performance car in the world..for the money. It's always been clean, sleek, and above it's dollar segment in looks.
As Car and Driver said about the Iroc-Z in 1985 ."It looks like a $100,000 car, and if we saw them as rarely as Ferrari's, that's what we'd pay for it."
