Question Fuel line

OK so when going for 1000whp on corn what is the best size fuel line to run to the rails and for the return?

I was looking at some 1/2 hardline for a feed with some AN compression fittings to give me -8 fittings

Then using some -6AN as a return.

Will I need to run the 1/2 directly to the back of each rail or will a Y fitting with a -8 and two -6 fittings to the rails work? The two -6 lines are about 10in long so it will mostly be 1/2 to the rail

I'm running Squash. I have 6AN from pumps to a 1 micron Canton filter.
Then 6AN to a Y block at rear of engine.
6AN from Y block to rear of each rail.
The FPR is on the driver's side rail and the passenger rail comes over and meets it.

The return line is 6AN and runs back to the factory feed line which I converted to a
6AN fitting. At the rear of the car, I converted that end of the factory feed to 6AN and it runs back to the pump hat's return port.

I'm using Aeroquip startlite which seems to have a bigger ID than other similar sized lines and it is incredibly flexible and cuts with a razor blade. It is PTFE as I'll be running E85 and should be making lots of HP with a twin turbo 427.

Fuel line size matters much more with carburetors as larger lines were needed for volume because the fuel pumps used with carburetors are much lower pressure. Since we are using fuel injection, line size is not nearly as important as pressure is to keep it full.

This the only pic I currently have that shows any of the fuel system.

Well if that's the case then that will save me an ass ton of money lol.
I have the Holley dominator pump. Not sure what filter to run before and after the pump.

The 388 in the picture made 69xwhp at less than wastegate before it started pushing water. It came out and the 427 is going in. The fuel system was stable up to that point. If it becomes an issue, it will get addressed. I don't see the 1 micron filter being an issue but if it does, I'll switch over to a Fuelab 6 micron.

I am not at all worried about my chosen line size and making big power.

I am running the stock sock that goes on the pickup as the pre-pump filter and the Canton as the post pump filter.

This is the one I have now

You had a built engine and it started to push water at 690?

Yes, it is sort of a long story and I'm not sure where the problem lies. It was a wet sleeved block and somewhere along the way, the heads wouldn't seal even with special gaskets. The decision was made to pull it and rebuild it. However, it turned into a 427 and the only parts being re-used were the head castings. Everything else (LSX block, crank, rods, etc) is brand new.

This is one of those times where it would have been cheaper and far less stressful to have bought new from the beginning instead of trying to save money.

DSX told me my -6an wouldn't be an issue over 1000hp. I also have a 6 micron fuel lab filter that he recommended for e85

I knew I'd read Dave said that. Something like they haven't reached the limits yet in a GTR but couldn't remember where. My car is with him (DMS) now and I have full faith they'll get everything sorted out.

This is great news about 6an lines working up and past 1000whp.

Are you still using the stock LS3 rails also?
