FML Possible broken PRC valve spring
So back in February I had a brand new set of PRC 255 heads with the .675 valve springs put on the car. I hadn't driven my camaro in about 2 weeks so I started it up yesterday hearing what I thought was an exhaust rattle, I jacked up my car as high as I could to get under it (not very high) and I could not tell where the origin of the noise was coming from. I ended up taking it to a shop down the street where they let me use their lift. Followed the noise up the drivers side exhaust, couldn't hear much from the top side but I am suspecting its one of the springs on the dual setup. Not even 4 thousand miles on a not so cheap set of heads...... Pulled the valve cover on the drivers side to inspect but its pretty hard to see the inner springs when they are installed. Will be pulling the valve springs on that side this weekend to see if I can find the culprit..... just really disappointing. Very possible end to my summer season as all my car funds are tied up in my ERL short block. I do have another set of the .675 EHT springs installed on my factory heads but if this one failed with 4k miles on it I will not be putting any more of their springs on my cars..... on a good note at least all the valves are still in their retainers and not dropped into the cylinder.

I broke a BTR .660 not to long ago. It never made any weird noises or gave me idling issues only reason i found out was cuz i removed the valve covers to inspect the valve seals cuz my car was consuming oil. I broke the outter spring so it was visible right away. Otherwise your gonna have to remove the springs to see the inner spring. Good luck man since i cammed my car is been nothing but issues.

Call TSP, they will probably warranty them out no issue. Shouldn't be a big deal.

What cam are you running that you think you need .675 springs?

If a dual spring (sounds like what you have) then odds are you did not sustain damage. Make sure with new springs you ALWAYS heat cycle them before running higher RPM's. 2 cycles of getting to operating temp and letting cool down completely should prevent most springs from breaking.

Our spring kits come with a 1 year part replacement warranty. If it is a broken spring give us a call. AITI is on point about the heat cycling.

Be sure and let us know.... I had a spring break prc .675 but was no doubt most likely from a over rev many months before, and it started with a very slight tick like exhaust the when the second one went......... well that ate my wallet. Had the 235/239 tsp cam. It happened to make it have idle problems and it was oh crap within ten miles... Tink....

I also had a set about a year old only 3k miles on them and I started consuming oil so I called them and they sent me new valve seals. When I removed the valve covers I had a outer spring broke on cyl 7 and cyl 2 but I had no running issue except the oil consumption that would clear up after running for 10 mins.they sent me all new springs and I would have to say they were great about taking care of the issue,I was just glad I had the inner springs lol

wow.......... so a few thousand miles and....... no wonder Dominick there at TSP said they break a lot more than the only two sets of .650 springs he has seen over the years and he sells them 20 times more.......... Makes you wonder...... especially when you just replaced a motor destroyed by a .675 springs break and TSP would not even offer a discount for crap...... Wonder where those .675 springs are made......

You yourself admitted that you over revved your engine! And if the springs were over a year old, well there you go.
Not everyone can use the .650 springs. I know I can't. I asked Pat G if I should consider the btr660's and he told me to go with the .675's.
