Kansas enacts right-lane law
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/20/r...lands-on-auto/
Anything that gets dickheads out of the left lane... They need to bring this to California. Make it a $500 fine plus 3 points and balance our budget. |

I was very happy to see this enacted. There have been lots of police officers on the highway enforcing this, and I have seen my share of pulled over drivers. With any hope, this is a step towards a respectable civilian driving community in the United States. This will also result in significantly increased safety on the highway.

i was reading some of the post and man some can be rude. but i have experienced many issues with people in the left lane going slow.
Example few guys were in a uhaul they get on the freeway and shoot for the fast lane but are doing 50. just b/s also hate when people get int he car pool and go slow, i will either got on your ass let you know to speed up or pace you with my high beams on (if at night) and laying on my horn. that also goes for if you are in the fast lane and i am trying to pass some one but you are paceing them. to add to this i drive in the fast but if some one faster then me comes up i MOVE OVER. |

I thought this was understood nationwide? It's been like that in Texas since I can remember. I know in Texas, everyone usually gets over and no one really cares, the same in Oklahoma, but I don't think there's a law. The one's that usually clog up the left lane in Texas are fellow Oklahoman's haha.

Worthless law. PA has had this law for a few years and it hasn't changed a thing. I've never seen it get enforced, which defeats the purpose anyway. On top of that, I doubt if 90% of the people even know this law exists.
I've driven all over the country and PA is the worst state for left lane drivers that I've seen. |

Tailgaters are a far worse problem, in any lane. A brake check usually gets their attention though.

I know "drive right" and other rules of the road are strictly enforced on the autobahn in Germany.
Supposedly thats why they have fewer fatalities per mile driven than we do despite the high speeds allowed.

Actually California has even a stricker law on the books for freeways, "flow of traffic", you can technically get ticketed even going the full speed limit in the fast lane if you pile up cars behind you that want to go faster.
Alas, the problem is CHP stopped enforcing it for the most part in the late 70's and it has never been the same since. Right lane laws are great, but only where they are stickly enforced.
