Trunion or not to Trunion?

Trying to get all my parts lined up for my night fury cam and prc head install. Do I need to do the Trunion upgrade or what? Wife is getting annoyed at my recent spending so if I can avoid the extra $130 ish I will, but also don't wanna smoke this thing ,then she'll really be happy ....I think I just answered my own question...maybe

Wives and Camaros rarely get along well. It's like having a mistress that always demands money, and the wife finds out.

Honey, I need new rims and tires... Ok
Honey, I need headers and a tune... Ok, wow, that wasn't cheap
I know but that will be it
...
uh... I need drag radials... .. eye roll. ... and a cam... door slams..

$130, yes good idea to wait till the needle bearings are scattered throughout the engine.

There are multiple threads on this, and differing opinions. I did it, twice. Had a failure the first time, but I believe the stock rocker would have also failed.

I like the idea of it capturing the bearings in the event of a failure, others have said there isn't a big deal since the needles fall straight to the pan anyway.

Id do it again until I see a reason not to

I do like the Brian Tooley trunion upgrade. While the bearings are probably the same as Comp, I can tell the trunion itself is different and the c-clips on the ends would keep any needle bearings from getting loose in the engine. I had to change mine because of the Comp failure, but if I had to start from stock I'd probably just go straight to the Brian Tooley upgrade and call it a day. YMMV

I like the captured needle idea , but also read that there are more failures with the aftermarket trunions opposed to the stockers...that's why I worry ...spend money on a part that could fail sooner than stock. This should be easier to decide dammit

I'm going the che bushing route, given .654 lift and 460lb spring pressures. And because PRC heads prohibit the use of any other rocker option without machining.

Stockers here as well. Shop where i had the cam installed said that it good but not a absolute must do. He recommended if the car was gonna see a lot of track use or constant high rpm then it would be a good idea but a weekend warrior not so much.

If you just feel like you have to trunion.....use the btr kit. We use it when the customer wants a trunion upgrade.
