MT ET Streets S/S or Nitto NT05r
I'm going to be needing new tires in the next several weeks and I'm wanting to get drag radials for the rear then street tire up front. I'm going back and forth from the new Mickey Thompson Street S/S 305/35/20 and the Nitto NT05r 315/35/20. About 95% of the local racers who have drag radials run the older versions of the MT ET Streets, but I like the look and the availability of 315s of the Nitto. What do you guys think? I'm currently at 500rwhp and will be spraying a 150 shot by the end of the year. If I can't hook on a drag radial, I'll buy some 17x10 Welds with a 28x10 Hoosier bias ply slick, but I still need a better rear tire regardless.

The "new" M/T still uses the same compound as the previous tire, they basically changed the tread design to make it a bit more street friendly and some sidewall changes iirc

Not my personal experience, but I was talking to someone who has tried/used both tires. He said the MT are way better than the Nitto...btw where do you guys race up in the NO? I'll have to give you a shout next time I go up there to check out your car.

I have 675 rwhp and cannot hook on the NT05R in the 305/35/19 size. Getting 1.85 to 2.00 60 ft with pressure between 17 psi and 20 psi
When I only had 550 rwhp, I was able to cut 1.7x on the NT05R with 20 psi and even got a 1.66 once. |

Were the NT05R's consistent at 550rwhp?

I'm trying to decide between these 2 myself. I have NT05's now so getting the R would match up for my front tires but I hear the MT's are better.

Dont want to hijack your thread. But im in the same boat looking for some new rear tires with over 500whp. Looking at the exact same tires Was kinda leaning towards the M/T. Is there a big difference in price? Also i still have the stocks up front. Some where some one said that will throw engine codes if i just change the back tires to a 305/35r20? Is this something a tuner can fix?

Had the Nitto's, now i have the Mickey's S/S Haven't been to the track yet but on the street they hook hard at 28 P.S.I The Nitto couldn't do that .BTW went with 305 35 and they are bigger then the Nitto 315 35

Picked up a used pair of the M/T's from a member here. Simply put, they hook up. From a 40 roll, 60 roll and a dig no spinning with 501 to the wheels. Glad I got them.
