Angry HELP! My dealer closed and took my $500 deposit.

I ordered my Victory Red 1SS from Huntington Chevrolet and they CLOSED! They closed 2 weeks ago and no-one informed me about it until my fathers friend told my father that there are no cars on the lot. I put down a $500 deposit in May and I was informed that the dealer ordered it from GM. SO please guys what should I do?

Honestly I do not know...You should contact Camaroscotty or Fbodfather on here.
They will know better than we do. DO you have a receipt for the deposit and an order number? If so you should be able to get it handled.

I would start with the Dealership owner - Plead your case to him, if nothing
* Then contact GM Customer Service ask to speak to a manager - supervisor.
* Then contact the better business bureau in your state.
* If all else fails send a letter to your attorney general office consumer complaints div.
I too left a large deposit and am concerned.

2 separate things here... get the car you ordered and get your money back.

For number 1. Do you know what status the car was? If it was just 1100, you'll just have to go somewhere else and reorder. But if it was like 3400 or higher, call GM customer support. Explain the situation to them and provide your order number. They should at least be able to tell you where your car has been rerouted. Once finding that information, contact the dealer that is receiving the car and take it from there.

For number 2, contact the dealership ownership. Contact the BBB. Contact your state attorney general. File a claim in small claims court.

Good luck.

GM should learn to be more responsible for these crooked dealerships, no wonder they went bankrupt. The should publish a list of the dealerships they are going to close so people won't order cars from those dealerships and have the problem you all had. I am trying to buy a 2LT and being told that I have to sign an open contract cause the price may increase by the time the car comes in (what a line of b/s). Or the dealers want 2 to 3 thousand over sticker. GM created this cabbage patch frenzy and they should go out of business, seems like nothin has changed in the last 20 years...c r o o k s

Deposits should be put into an escrow account, like they do with new homes.

Thanks for your help guys, this issue has been Resolved thanks to a very GREAt salesperson. He used to work at Huntington Chevrolet and now he moved to Robert Chevrolet. Well anyway he called my father today and said that he will not need a $500 deposit.(Don't ask how he did it.) And he will transfer my order to his new dealership. Now I feel Great! I did not need to sue anyone or call any important people. if any of you are in NY and would like a Camaro ordered from an excellent salesperson PM me and I will tell you who he is. Thanks Again guys.

So did he re-apply your $500 deposit to the new / transfered order?

you are still out of 500 dollars though dude! Unless the new dealer will give you 500 off.
