Is the damage in the area near the lid cable or is it near the bumper side where packages are loaded in to the trunk?
It's down by the bumper. The only reason I wrote was to see if anyone had this problem before, and to see if anyone suggested a product to maybe patch it like a 3m product, instead of spending $70 on a new seal. Thanks!

You should sell the car now if you can't afford 67 dollars for the correct part instead of halfassing it .

I've used 100% Silicone glue to repair this kind of gasket, that type glue was used to hold Space Shuttle tiles on. Once dry, it is flexible, stands up to very high heat, and waterproof.
Available in Clear and Black from many companies. Should clean the surface good before applying (e.g. 70% rubbing alcohol), and let fully evaporate. Best to let have the glue set up for a few hours before closing trunk lid and/or can cover metal trunk lid area with saran wrap until it is dried.
Note "For Use On:" at bottom of picture. Do NOT use the type that stays semi-liquid which is used to fix windshield gasket leaks.

I've used black RTV sealant similar to ron123's post in a pinch until I could get new seals on cars in the past.

Leak

Look for two grommets one on either side of the trunk opening near the bottom of back glass. Then look inside your trunk and find the plastic tubes that fit into the grommets. I used slightly tight hose clamps to fix my leak. If you need pictures I can post some.
