i figure my car runs around a 14.7 1/4 @ ~95 so i figure the '10 v6 camaro would make a good race with a "track edition" 350z

The new V6's, on mag tests, have only trapped ~98 mph while the average 350Z is at ~101.

There are better numbers for both, but this is the typical that I've seen.

You'd be wrong. esp. if that 350z was a manual driven by a good driver.

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Here is a chart from a Car and Driver test showing an Audi TT, 350Z, Shelby GT, and RX-8. http://www.caranddriver.com/content/...ertrain_ss.pdf

To 60 the Mustang and 350Z should always beat the Camaro, but in the 1/4 it might be close.

just to clear it up, it would certainly matter what year the 350z was, I believe the 03-05 models did a quarter mile in around 14.0 seconds with a few dipping into high 13's, then there was a rev-up model which was around 287 hp that was mostly a high 13 second/low 14 car with some getting into mid 13's stock, but the newer models with the upgrade VQ35HR models are based on an engine with 80% newer parts and rated at 306 hp according to SAE ratings which are stricter- these newer models (with a slight bump in the hood) have been putting down pretty good numbers completely stock- 0-60 in about 5.2 and stated as 1/4 in 13.7 but there have been a large number of owners getting down to 13.1x's with bone stock models.

verified time slips here

And there are more than a few youtube vids, (just one I grabbed quickly.

So the v6 camaro might compete with the older z's depending on the driver, but not a chance with the newer models unless its got some decent bolt ons

the 350z handles almost as good as a roadster... but stock i can't see it dragging faster than a camaro ss.

But motortrend showed that it will indeed out drag a mustang.

well theres two things wrong with that.

1. were comparing to a v6 mustang not an SS

2. that was a 370z that out dragged the mustang

There's a lot more to the equation than the tq the engine puts out.
