Stock Shifter Sucks!

Don't know about anyone else, but my 2-3 shift is horrible! I have shifted from 2 to 1 (instead of 3rd) probably 4 times in spirited driving..

I have owned quite a few T/A's and Camaro's and feel the stock shifter gate is simply horrible.

I had the Hurst shifter ordered, but had to dump it.

FIRST thing I am going to do is buy an aftermarket shifter. The stock one (again) is simply terrible for a vehicle of this caliber.

Anyone else share the same feelings and experiences?

I'm on the waiting list for hurst aftermarket version not the gm hurst but my car was just built so haven't tried stock yet. Ripshift is out and is comparable to hurst and one of it's big selling points is never miss third again. I prefer the hurst name but there are a few shifters out already. Just don't get the ripshift from hennessy theirs is marked up.

I finally picked up my car yesterday and I can say that during the first several shifts, I ended up in the wrong gear. Lately, I had been driving my VW Beetle and had gotten used to the long throws and gear spacing so shifting in the Camaro took a bit of getting used to. I find the Camaro shift throw travel to my liking and love the fat shift knob. But I think I would like the Hurst shifter evem more though.

I agree. I have several 6-speed cars and have had several more. This might be the worst OEM shifter of them all. The 2-3 gate pattern is very exaggerated, has a lot of travel. I also don't like the squished baseball knob. Just feels weird to me.

Can't wait for another shifter to come out!

It may not be the shifter. The rear trans mount is the weakest I have ever seen. When your under a load before you shift and then let off to shift the trans is moving but the shifter is attached to the body much like the BMW's. Its called the money shift.

I have ran it through the gears pretty good and it didn't seem like a problem to me. I havent missed a gear yet and I have power shifted a few times. Although a short throw would be an upgrade, I will probably wait to do mine.

I've had the 2nd to 1st thing happen in the worst possible times. Probably has happened about a hand full of times in a month of owning the car, but now not so much of a problem. I think it is annoying though, and as soon as the hurst is available I am going to upgrade for sure

Don't have a cow its the rubber in the upper part of the shifter and you will love the hurst you will not have a lost shift any more.

I too will get the shifter. I am down for that group buy but haven't heard from anyone on it.

I don't like how mushy this one feels. My truck, old vw, and friends/familys' cars shifters feel better than this one...

Not quite having a cow...yet. Just that with four 4th gens under my belt and one with a B&M shifter (2002 T/A) and one with a Hurst shifter (1998 T/A), I am greatly dissapointed with the shifter feel...real "generic" with doubt in the shifts.

All four, at one point never had this shifter problem, all 4 were Tremecs and logged a total of 300k miles with all. Even the stock shifters had a better feel than the stock 2010 camaro has.

Just wished GM would have never dropped the LPO from the orders...Not that I anticipated this issue, just that the niceity of shorter throws with an engine 110 HP greater that my WS6 and having it ordered and installed would have made this issue irrelevant.

Can't wait for the Hurst shifters...I will be the first to order and will install it at no cost.

I can't wait for the Hurst shifter. Since I had the car I've done the 2 to 1 shift twice. Scared the crap out of me seeing the rpm's rev so high unexpectedlly.

I've only missed it once and I'm not fabulous with a manual or anything. Maybe it depends on the individual car because I have a friend that is a lot better than me and he too has missed several times.
