Arrow Bella is back! Good as new.. I hope. :)

Alright, so after a month of fighting the dealerships and GM, we discovered the root of my water issues. Originally after a heavy rain storm, only once every few months, my driver side floorboard was wet. It began to drip from the overhead console of my 2011 LT/RS coupe. We discovered that the dealership from where I purchased the car new, had a glass dealer replace the windshield who cut into the paint and did not primer or use any rubber sealant or do anything to repair their blunder. They glued a new windshield in and over the last 4 years, water has slowly gotten in under the seal and broken it by causing rust to accumulate on the raw metal.

The leak was first documented at 34,000 miles. The glass installer vehemently denied messing it up, saying he wouldn't do that poor of a job and it must have somehow been my fault or a factory defect, while multiple body shops, dealerships and even GM said that if someone had doe that poor of work while in their employ they would have been fired, and everyone [except the dealer I bought from (who said they believed their glass installer) and the installer himself] believed the installer did a hatchet job on her, especially with the total lack of a rubber seal.

No one wanted to pay for the repair because the car is now out of warranty, but I argued the leak was documented while under warranty but you couldn't see the cause without pulling out the windshield, which my dealer never thought of doing (I don't blame them, who would?) Finally after GM's calls and my being very proactive, and after a month without my car, I lost my patience, threw up my hands and said I hated to do it but it was time to speak to a lawyer.

After that, my own dealer, who had even lent me a 2015 Cruze RS for two weeks free of charge while my car sat in their shop, found a glass repair specialist who would repair the damage for $400 as opposed to $1500-$3300 as quoted by multiple body shops. The dealer who sold me the car agreed to pay it with the addendum they were not admitting fault and this was a goodwill gesture. Whatever, as long as the car is repaired. They ground off the rust, primered and sealed and then got the new windshield to hold a seal and added a rubber seal that is now visible. Here she is with my husband's car on a cruise to the Gloss Mountains in Oklahoma last weekend.

I will say GM was very nice, patient and understanding. However, the senior adviser I dealt with could/would do nothing but act as an intermediary between me and the dealers. I thought they had the power to order the dealership to repair it but she said they did not as each is an independent franchise and they are not linked when it comes to warranty work, nor was GM able to make a dealer in the state I currently live in do the repairs. I had to take the car 4 hours across state lines to get any help. So don't be like I was and have the mistaken impression GM does or wants to have the power to make dealers do anything. If you have issues be prepared to do a lot of legwork at your own expense and make things happen!

I apologize for the length. Here's the eye candy to make up for my wordiness.

Rolled over 120,500 miles today.

Sorry you had to go thru so much bs. I've become a pro at working the phones because I realize no one is out to help me but me. Any time I have a problem, be it the bank, or the cable company, I always expect the worst. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised though.

I'm so glad you finally got your baby fixed. It's a shame that you had to threaten with an attorney, but it all worked out for the best! Happy motoring!

Glad you got it repaired! Although its really sad that you had to hire an attorney to get it done. I had to do the same thing with a bad home ac installation years ago.
