How much am i giving up with Nitto NT555 G2

The time has come to get some new tires the stock Goodyear's are getting mighty thin ,how much am I giving up with the Nitto NT555 G2 . Got a quote from my go to tire place for $165.00 each mounted and balanced . I know they will be better in the rain ( what isn't ) but how much traction and handling will I loose ? Will I regret it . They are $100.00 less per tire. Looking for someone with first hand knowledge who have had both on a 1LE.

Not a 1LE but I do have lots of power. You will have less grip but overall, I'm happy with mine. I have to be careful taking off (no rip and go like my toyos). More grip than I expected and very good in the rain (already tested that). Had the Goodyear, still like these ( I have 4 285 Goodyears sitting).

2500 miles and wear is great. I've found 34 psi front, 32 psi rear cold has worked for me.

ZL1 staggered setup...

Well. If ya don’t push the button you’re fine.

If ya push the button once you better know what the hell you’re doing.

If you push the button twice, you might consider a helmet on in a controlled environment if you’re pushing what we’re pushing.

If you push the button for 7-10 seconds you’re just a flat out moron.

(Or corresponding buttons)

Hope this helps.

PS This applies to all tires by the way.

The Goodyears were only good when they were warmed up. I liked my g2's... and I like the indy 500's even better

Good topic of conversation .

So I have a procharged +cammed setup !! Pushing about 650 on 93 . Never been to the track but I do want to get into street racing , car is a daily driver and I love it !! Drives really really well .. daily driving is only about 5-7 miles . I was looking for a set of tires for my 17 inch weld wheels that could help me be that street racer on the weekends and still give decent driveability during the weekdays in occasional light rain . Please recommend ideal tire sizes for stock brembo setup on the 17 inch weld wheels . Any and all input is greatly appreciated. 🙏🏻

With the f1s on my 1le it was spin city until they warmed up and even then it would spin fairly easy. The 555r take a lot more effort to break loose and they are much much better in the rain I just cant seem to get them to hook on the track. But that’s more driver than the tire.

It all depends on your use of the car if it's mainly a street car your not going to loose a lot, but if you track it yes you'll loose a lot. I went from the Firestone Indy's to the Nitto's an gained a lot, but my next set will be PSS on a more dedicated wheel package.

I run a square 285/35/20 setup with NT555G2's. I've driven a handful of Camaro's with F1-G2s and I really think that they suck. When they are nice and hot in good ambient temperature they work well, but anything less than their ideal condition and they get really slick. They flat out suck for the first and last 6 weeks of the driving season here in upstate NY.

The 555G2 is completely different, it seems to work pretty well in the cold, the rain, etc. It doesn't have the same level of peak grip at all, but it does have respectable grip and very progressive break-away. It's a fun tire to push the car on. As an over-all driver I think they are a very good value - I would buy again.

Just to be clear, you both hold the button down for 7-10 seconds and turn everything off each and every time before moving the car? Unless it’s rainy?

I'm not sure where you're trying to go with this, but although I generally run all nannies on when I'm commuting, this car is very very controllable sideways.

https://www.facebook.com/Billy.Ng.47...5683631456821/

I've been known to actually turn everything off only when its raining and very cold (on G2s) in order to have a little sideways fun (never putting others in danger it should be very well noted).

  • Driving Nannies: If I'm that far out of shape on the street, something has gone terribly wrong and by all means Mr. Computer man, come and get me.
  • G2s: Rock throwing is like like a tramp stamp; although problematic, it's a sign of good things to come.
