Driving School? Class?

So.

I have done a number of track / lapping events at Shannonville "back in the day"..... in a car substantially less powerful.

I can drive o.k but am not foolish enough to think I have any idea how to control a car like this when wanting to experience it on a track.

Has anyone taken a driving course, class or training in the area that would allow one to improve their skills and knowledge of driving one of these monsters. i.e Camaro 101, Rear Wheel Drive Monsters - What not to do., etc.

Any recommendations of what I should look for or where?

Really excited to get my break in done and enjoy my Camaro responsibly on a road course.

Thoughts?

Thanks
Sebastian

Subscribing.

I too would be interested in this. I've always wanted to do a professional racing/stunt driving course

Mississauga's own, Ron Fellows! Met him a few times. I wonder how often he's there or involved?
Looks like a nice track/program.

Makes for a pricey $ vacation though!

I've been to Spring Mountain as well. It's an incredible facility with top-notch instructors. I was fortunate enough to have ridden shotgun with Ron there for about 10 min on the track in a 5th Gen ZL1 when they were being introduced. The man is an artist! (and one helluva nice guy!) True enough, the multi-day courses there are very expensive - but the accommodations are definitely 1st class!

Depending on what you're looking for, I have a couple of suggestions:
1) for basics, give Ian Law a call and talk to him/them about the track school he runs at the DDT at Mosport (now CTMP). The DDT is a very forgiving track and great for learning basic track skills. I always liked it because of the elevation changes as opposed to Shannonville or TMP that are flat.

2) CASC-OR Time Attack School
http://www.casc.on.ca/timeattack/about

This is an excellent-middle-of-the road school that gives you a choice between the DDT or the "Big Track" (Grand Prix Track at CTMP). There are regulations for eligibility that are outlined on the website.

3) for more intense, advanced instruction, check out the BMW Trillium Club. They run an excellent school on the "Big Track" The school is open to anybody (no - you don't need to have a BMW). However, you do need to join the club, which is not a huge expense.
Check it out here:
http://trillium-bmwclub.ca/content/a...riving-schools

There are also some very useful tips for track days as well as a review for the school's requirements.

Keep in mind that the "Big Track" is a world class track and is extremely challenging. In all the schools I've been to there, you must be "signed off" by a qualified instructor in order to venture out on the track by yourself without an instructor. On this high speed track, there is very little (if any) room for error.

Good luck, be safe and have fun!

Best regards,

Elie
