When do you start pounding on it
I have heard a lot of talk how quick these cars are. I am going to pick mine up on Friday if it don't rain. #6592 it's been here for a week getting windows tinted, stripes and stuff. When I bought my Mustang way back when I let it go hard before I ever got it home. I am older now and can wait until it's ready for some pounding. What have you guys with the V8 been doing. I am looking forward to racing my big block and the sooner the better.

My old rule of thumb was 500 miles. I never made it. With this one I'm going to go 1500 miles. So far the highest I've tached it is 4500rpm and only once. Normally I keep it under 4000. I must say that it is VERY HARD to not stomp on that pedal. I still stare at the tach at idle reading 500rpm and can't believe how smooth it is that slow.

I'd follow GM's advice out lined in the Owners Manual, give it 500 miles before any WOT or hard use of the brakes/clutch.

The owners manual says 1500 mile break-in period and not to exceed 4000 rpm's. Don't listen to those who are guessing or telling what they do cause they are wrong. If you can't wait that long get on a motorcycle or a friends car and hammer away !

Drive it like you stole it...
...beat the piss out of it. Never wash it. Bend up the fenders and shoot primer all over random body panels...
Then, grow yourself a mullet and put on your favorite gravy stained wife beater... You can be the next Star on "Cops" And you'll make my pristine Camaro worth that much more JK

I do it slow and easy. Never kissing on the first date. Or even till the relationship is well developed and many dates have been accomplished. The Cars I mean of course.:5thgenvert:
