p-zero tires
im sure im not theonly one feeling this pain but i have just over 30k miles on my 2010 ss and the pirrelli p-zero tires are shot ! wtf chevy makes a bad ass car then ruins it with tires that are way over priced and its almost impossible to find a replacement tire that isnt goin to break your bank i have made a formal complain on the gm website i ask that more do the same then mayb gm will get the idea and recall the tires never mind the fact that you cant use the tires in under 45 degrees or you risk them flying off your rims again something chevy didnt mention. dont get me wron i expected the tires to be expensive you have to pay to play what i didnt expect was for them to be worn down after only one year of driving and i been deployed for 6 months ?

Z rated tires are not good for cold temperatures, and they don't last long. Getting 30k on a set of summer Z rated tires is pretty good IMO.

Seriously....if you got 30k out of them, you did alright. That's the nature of the beast with summer/performance tires. And there are warnings about using them in low temps in your owners manual, so this shouldn't have been a surprise. There are cheaper options (and "all-season" tires) on tire-rack (or ebay). An "all season" tire will last longer for you (and be fine in cold temps), but wont perform as well.
oh...and THANK YOU for your service.

You got 30K miles and are complaining, are you serious? When I purchased the car I expected to get about 20K, if I get 30K I'd be ecstatic!
30K is good for most tires, and very good for high performance tires such a z-rated tires. You bought a sports car, not a freaking Kia! I see absolutely no reason to complain to GM!! |

I have to agree w the OP. Wouldve been nice to have the option of the pzero or all season regular tires. Im in Indiana and my camaro is my dd. I wont b driving in any snow or ice cuz I wont drop a ton of $$ on tires but its going thru the cold.

The P-0's are indeed 'summer' tires with a very soft tread compund for performance.
As a result of the soft compound, don't expect more than 20k or so tread life. If you've gotten 30k, you've done quite well. High performance and low tread life is just the nature of the beast these days it seems. |

I plan on replacing mine at 20K and I'm at 16K now. I also remember in 09 when these first came out the tires were $400 a piece, they are only half of that now. My fronts are fine, so it will be just the rears this time around.

I also agree with the OP.
Lets see, The SS comes with remote start, heated seats, heated mirrors and summer tires ! Makes no sense to me. At least all season tires should have been standard on the SS with P/zeros OPTIONAL or visa-versa.

I agree...all-season tires should be an option on the SS.
That said, I've had SUV tires that only lasted around 35k...so really 30k on ANY performance tire (or even performance all-season) isn't bad at all.

I think too many people don't look at all the costs of a performance car. Many times just the cost of the car then after the purchase the other expenses come along.
I first bought a 2010 Camaro 2LT V6. One of the reasons was that I looked up the cost of replacing the SS tires. Although now I have a 2012 SS manual arriving i about 2 weeks. I wanted more performance and accept those costs now. |
