Don't know why you guys are disappointed. It is still a 3800 lb car with only 505hp and rear wheel drive. Pretty impressive times given that. And the ZL1 can generate more speed because over a long straight it still has more power.

Hitting 160 on the straight in the rain was impressive and scary as hell. There's no question he had to back off once he hit the rain; he couldn't accelerate coming out of the corners because the back end was kicking loose when he tried. He was getting faster and faster before he hit the rain. This car will get below the 7:30 mark; no question in my mind.

Is it official that the power is 505 hp? I was expecting more like 525.

The handling looks superb. The steering ratio must be very quick; he was hardly moving his hands most of the time.

As for choosing this to be their "official" time... it's middle of October. I doubt weather conditions are going to do anything but get worse heading into winter. This was probably the last fairly decent chance they had this year.

Watching the way he was driving towards the end before the rain hit it looked like he realized it was about to and was literally throwing the car around the track trying to beat the rain but he didn't make it. They were probably radioing him from the pits. That he continued pushing as hard as he did in the wet was crazy but you could see the moment he hit the rain the back end was trying to kick around on him and he had to ease up somewhat.

Yeah....this car will run in the 7:20's.

Don't know. I figure 505 is good enough to use for now since it was good for the Z06 LOL

for those saying 4 seconds quicker is not much really don't understand what it takes to shed seconds off a lap time once you've reached these incredible times!!

not only that but look at the cold wet weather, not sure if it would run 7:20's but I can garuntee in 70 degree weather with a dry track it would knock at least another 3 seconds off and that puts into Koenigsegg territory!! Seriously, a 3800lbs car thats rear wheel drive and only costs $70K. Wheres the BMW's, Fords or any other rear wheel drive car? Not even close!!
Very proud moment for me

Yep, more in it, still want it.

Hey, there's still 6 months before the release.

Plenty o' time to bench race.

Very nice. Great through the headphones.

But, as I read some of the other posts by you guys on this thread, I can't help to imagine your voices as the fat comic book guy from the Simpsons. Hell if I had the coinage, I would have bought a ZL1. Then they unveiled this and now it would be my first choice (with AC if possible). I have my reasons and I don't feel compelled to explain....

Some of you geeks need to just shift into 6th gear and relax.

that was awesome and scary. For everyone that thought it was "not" what they expected, I bet if you had strapped their ass in the passenger seat, they would have been begging to slow down when that rain hit.

Me, I would have loved to have been strapped in the passenger seat for a ride of a lifetime.

I timed the straight, the ZL1 went billboard to billboard in 24 sec. and some change. on a dry track

The Z28 I'm getting around 25 and some change. in the rain.

I don't think the ZL1 would have gained too much in the straight. Now don't get me wrong. It's obviously going to gain some, but it's not going to pass the Z28 like it's standing still.

I think the track was mildly moist(as Jeremy Clarkson would say) at the time as well. That could explain why he was fighting for traction at some points before the rain even hit. It was probably a rainy/misty type of day, and then the clouds couldn't hold it in any longer towards the end.

Nevertheless, that was damn impressive for the conditions. And I can only imagine what kind of time they'd be getting if it was completely dry!

More upside to the LSA, less expensive, and I won't have to sweat driving it during the summer. Going to be tough to justify a lot more for this car than what they are asking for the ZL1 in my opinion.
Why does everyone think the Z28 doesnt come with an A/C? Its just an option not to get one right?

This is gonna come off as trying to stir the pot, and I'm not trying to haha.

all the people that said it would beat the Z06, Z07, and ZR1? Did you guys really think they were gonna shave almost 20 seconds off the ZL1's time? Look at the cars its beat and is in the same league as. Thats damn impressive for a car that still weighs 3700 lbs. And look at the conditions that was in. I just looked back through the guess the time thread and I think in dry conditions my guess of 7:30 is pretty damn close.
