For those that want a performance panel air filter...

I didn't want to spend ridiculous $ for a Rotofab unit and went for the $55 solution which is a Green Filter in the pic. Perfect fit and it is the part # for a 2016 SS.

I don't understand. So you just put this in the stock airbox?

Yes...a performance panel filter similar to a K&N... probably worth 5hp vs the paper filter.

I was gonna go the K&N route. But after thinking long and hard (that's what she said, lol) about it I decided to just go with an actual cai. Why? Because every time I've bought a high flow panel filter I ended up buying a cai at some point later. Either way they're both good. Those panel filters really do a good job.

Is there any noticeable sound increase in induction or supercharger whine?

not huge or measurable. I could already hear my supercharger whine prior to the filter swap. In my 2012, the blower was silent until a CAI was installed.

Did it come pre-oiled or did you have to get spray as well?

-Question, does this particular filter uses cotton as its filter media?
-If so, isn't that a bad option for a daily/semi daily ride? As it will allow to much dirt to pass by.
-Is this more appropriate for a purely racing application?

You're not going to get anything past this filter that can do any type of damage to the engine. I've ran HF filters in every car I've owned and never had an issue related to filtration.

Just installed my green filter, OEM had seen better days, found leaves and other crud in the airbox so took a vacuum to it.

I don't have the best tools but damn one of the screws almost got stripped trying to remove it. When I goto clean the filter, I'm hoping to have hex or allen type replacements.
