I believe it is definitely possible to lower the ZL1 an inch or less with the MRC as many CTS-V owners have done this and kits are available online. Currently D3 claims it has the only lowering kit 100% compatible with the OEM mag ride shocks:

I will wait at least a year before making any performance mods to the ZL1 just so I can get a handle on it stock form; that way I can fully appreciate any changes I do make...I'm sure by that time there will be a quite a few aftermarket options to choose from as well

But lowering the car 1/2 inch or so is defintiely on my "to do" list

Personally, I would NOT lower the ZL1 unless I planned on spending a good deal more time on the TRACK than as a DD & I were ABSOLUTELY certain it would NOT screw up the MRC. If you don't care about maintaining a factory WARRANTY, I'd contact Ravikumar Ayyagari dba Umbrella Auto Design to have him fabricate a VRH/VariableRideHeight compressor driven lift kit that works with the GM MRC & will allow you to either "slam" or raise the chassis via a couple of toggle switches mounted on the dash to create a delta of up to 2.75" either way.

If you want to lower the CG, don't get a power sunroof, carry a couple of midgets in the back seats or store a load of unnecessary cr@p in the trunk. Sure, a lowered CAMARO L(. (. )KS KOOL as heck & may improve aerodynamics, but then again, you might run a risk of scrubbing your tires on the wheel wells. On real world roads, the ZL1 is plenty low enough with a shallow approach angle of 9°.

Update: The ZL1 responds very well to lowering, sway bars, radius and sub-frame inserts. The owners running on per-production parts are thrilled with them.

I like the Pedders "Track 2 Xa" package for the ZL1 minus the coilovers (just springs)... would want to keep the G3 magneto struts.

It's been my good experience that any car I have ever owned rode better on the street with a complete urethane bushing swap.
- Here in ATL, we've got a dedicated alignmnet shop for Road Atlanta drivers.

Most CTS-V's getting lowered are not going with the D3 springs and new MR bars. Most are now doing Eibach's with no other modification(except cutting bump stops) and loving it. .9" inch in front and 1.1 in the back. I don't think the MR will be affected to much to notice.
