Besides, the performance of these EB engines seems to be at a satisfying enough level to not disappoint. Even if one wants more, the power these engines can achieve in the aftermarket is nothing to be scoffed at. If something subjective as the exhaust sound is the biggest gripe, then that's not too bad. As far as Ranger goes, with how well the 2.7EB performs in F-150, it should really shine in a smaller and lighter vehicle, especially with a little massaging.

IMHO, the 3.6L is plenty. 308hp is nothing to sneeze at. Ten short years ago, the 5.3L in the Silverado was pumping out 310hp. I have driven my buddy's ZR2 several times now and it is no slouch.

I had a '14 raptor and now DD a '17 raptor. The 17 is better in every way possible, except sound. LOL.
It has a distinctive note and i'll leave it at that. Sure doesn't stop them from selling though. I'd guess the ranger will get the 2.7. Maybe a tweaked version. Key will be price. |

Confirmed, no Ranger Raptor for US market.

That's too bad. We know the small/mid size truck form factor is better for actual off-roading. Then again, i've never seen any dirt on a Raptor.

wow...they must REALLY not want to cannibalize on F150 Raptor sales. The ZR2 seems to sell pretty well. Seems like a bad decision to me, but what do I know?
I still think there's a chance we might see the Ranger Raptor in a few years time.

Ford's blaming the Ranger's diesel engine as the primary reason, but I'm guessing they simply make more profit off the F-150 Raptor.

Well, the ZR2 wasn't there from day 1 either. However, the Silverado doesn't have a Raptor equivalent so not exactly a parallel.

I am sure they do, but I wouldn't be shocked if the pull a 180 and offer it in a year or two with the 2.7 EcoBoost

Ranger Raptor won't hit US shores until T6 is replaced. This current platform isn't designed to accommodate a V style engine. Would it fit? Yeah. But it's just not desinged to be there from a factory perspective.
The replacement platform, that will underpin Bronco, should by all means be designed with a V6 in mind. Then we'll see RR.

This has got to suck. In order to replace the oil filter you need to remove the left wheel.
