Been a long time since I was on here. A short summary of whats been going on......
brought the car up to Ted to have a smooth idle cam installed (my cutouts are loud enough before anyone asks), do a brake upgrade, and make the switch to E85.
Turned out two cylinders were blowing oil by. I had 3 options as they would not modify a hurt motor, understandably so.
1- Tear it apart and rebuild it. Pretty expensive in labor
2- Drop in a crate motor that just happened to be sitting there. Slightly more expensive.
3- Order a custom 416 fully built motor with forged internals for a couple grand more than the previous options.

Of course you can't just drop a motor like that in with a stock rear end, drive shaft, and axles. My goal from day 1 was to be at 800+RWHP.
I chose option 3...... its still in the break in period and on a "soft tune".

It's a monster. Once it's broken in I'm going back for a suspension and wheels that can handle the power. At the end of the season I plan on bringing it to Epping like I did at the end of last year.

On another note I have my stock engine (and a lot of other stock parts) looking for a home.

Made the switch to SlowHawk. Took the Captain to the track and had an oil pump failure. Luckily it was in between races. However, this was the third time our of 3 attempts that I tried racing this Texas Speed 418 and I had to tow it back to the former tuner. I understand stuff happens when you race, I just lost my former comfort levels with them. It sounds like Don is the guy to know about here when you have a high HW car so I brought it to him. It was tuned at 890 RWHP and he felt that it was too lean and dangerous for the motor. He dialed it back a little bit leaving me around 840. I am bringing it back to the speedway on Tuesday and am hoping for the best!

Had almost a full day of racing before I lost 5 lbs of boost. It wanted to slowly climb back up to full pressure but couldn't get there so I took it off track ASAP. Brought it to the trailer and checked out all my air connections which seemed fine. Started it up to load up and it was misfiring like crazy. Got it loaded up and brought it home where it sat in the trailer for a couple weeks. This being the 4th problem in a row made me not want to look at it.
After I got over myself I brought it back up to SlowHawk. Got the call last night that its all set and two of the rear bolts on the back of the Whipple had started lifting, damaging the seal, allowing some oil to blow out over my plugs, leading to the boost loss and misfiring.
Picking it back up today and thinking I'm done with the track for the season.

I do have so new mods sitting in the garage that were waiting for the end of race season to go on. Stay tuned!
