Thanks Bob,

After years of reading your posts on CZ28.com I figured you would have the answer.

Jimmy...you're most welcome, and thanks for the kind words!

The test I saw where he returned with an SS in warmer air, he couldn't do better than low 13s.

Maybe he did a different test I didn't read about.
Here's a scan of the article in question....most of the article was a review of the 2001 Bullitt Mustang.

Those were different nights and temps however, so I dont guess its really a fair comparison

It is quite common for a stock LS3 Camaro to run high 12s @ 110 ish mph. But high 12s @ 110 mph would be an extremely fast (freak) pass in an auto LS1 Fbody.

We have many members of this forum that previously owned LS1 Fbodys (including myself). Mine was also an A4 auto.

Anyone have an LS1 A4 Fbody (bone stock) 1/4 mile list from a forum? I'd like to compare it with the LS3 M6 list.

You're probably correct, I do think my ls1 was a freak and easier to drive than my manual ... my tuner was always suprised at how much teeth that ls1 of mine had. At the time I had a brother with an 01' ls1 z28 and my SS just felt (or really, was) .... faster

When I was bone stock my car still walked my brothers t/a, after the headers no contest! The top end pull is MUCH stronger in these cars.

At the track a 4th gen with Boltons will put down 108 traps on your avg summer night, stock or bolted 5th gens are trapping 110-112+ and I have personally seen 116...this on a average night around here. I realize there are allot of fast 4th gens out there, but MOST stock 4th gen ls1 cars will run mid 13s at 104-106, that's the truth... A 12 sec stock ls1 car, MOST are not! Maybe your ls3 needs a fuse pull, or still needs a good break in, your stock rune could be pulling timing also. I would look into it.
Well, thats my experience. Mine was a factory 12 second ls1, miss the hell out of it. I'm probably not the worlds greatest ls3 driver anyhow ....

sounds like your brothers car is the norm ... and thats your experience

If you're lucky enough to run across a stock M6 LS1, the L99 can probably outrun it. My old H/C/Full Exhaust/Gears 01 SS would run circles around my new car. Time to start modding?!?!

L99 Camaro vs a well-driven M6 LS1...especially a no/low option car....that's a tough call.

Put a poor or even average driver in the M6 and I'd give the nod to the L99.
