What is the reason for a catch can on a naturally aspirated engine? Just wondering lol

That is a better question for this thread.

I used a bit of thread paste and 10 min later I was back in business. Check out the pictures below.

I will One Up You,
Install a barbed fitting in the catch can,
install a barbed fitting in the ball valve,
install a 2 foot hose between them
Mount the ball valve to your frame easily accessable while doing oil change.

Drain Catch can from under car.

Gain Extra storage space for collected oil by the volume of the hose.

Ted.

Me too!!! IMO...just add it to the can and charge $10 more. My bet is 95% of people would upgrade it if they new it was an option.

Think I might do this next time I change my oil.

That little drain plug on the bottom of my RX can caused me havoc for probably 3 months. The short story was a I would get random CEL. Since I don't have a reader I would have to go to Autozone and check one out to read/clear it. Kept saying my fuel banks were running lean. I kept thinking it was an O2 sensor. I would switch them around and things would be good for a couple weeks and then CEL again. Finally I threw in the towel and went to ADM performance. Andy put it on the HP tuners saw the leak and narrowed it down to the drain plug on the RX can had come loose. I know it was my fault for not really tightening it up correctly in the first place but that caused me a lot of stress and concern (and about 4 trips to Autozone) for a few months.

Excellent idea!! Anyone can get these at most any hardware store also and swap out easy enough.

Anyone ever considered a 12v solenoid valve and switch for a remote drain setup?

Hi Ted, is this something you can provide with the Rx CCs you sell?
If so, for how much more? I'm looking for a single valve, IOM CC and an IOM breather with a white filter.

We can offer the Drain kit.

We do not however offer Color matched cans.

I also advise against the Breather Cap as it lets Unmetered air in the system causing fuel trims to have to add fuel.

Ted.

Did this on mine as well. I just did it because I have a hard time getting my big hands under the can to drain it. This makes it a lot easier.
I thought about the remote drain as Ted suggested, but just did not think it would look good. It also made me a little uneasy knowing there was plastic tubing down there with oil in it. If it was accidently pulled loose there could be a mess. In my world, it seems instead of accidents, I am being clumsy.

Ok, thanks for the advice Ted. I'll stick to a CC and disregard the breather cap. However, I was under the impression you did offer them painted since the following option is available for them on your webpage:

2010-2013 Camaro Single Valve Catch Can by Rev Extreme for N/A Cars or Roots/Screw Superchargers

Custom Color (Please type color in notes at checkout)
  • Match Color of Your Vehicle

Thanks I will have that fixed.

The lead time is too long and the possibility of damage is too high for us to handle this.

Ted.

I got my black Rx CC from Ted, retrofitted it with a Swagelok needle valve on the drain. No pics, sorry. Had it in a few days as he stocks them.
