I was Just curious. I am planning on ordering the vararam but I want to get the right one

No-tune has a MAF screen to help the MAF sensor read closer to what it would in the stock airbox. Also the shape of the opening is more of an oval on the no-tune. Again for the same reason.

If you are going to tune your car right away, then the tune version has more HP potential. If you are not going to tune right away, or not at all, then the No-Tune is the one to choose. fwiw, only the tail section of the two versions are different. If you go with the No-Tune and later decide you want to tune, you can order just the one piece and convert it over.

Even though MarylandSpeed has the best pricing, go over to vararam.com and read the Air Meter write-up. You will want to check the coding on your air meter or MAF sensor first. Takes 5 minutes, unless you drop a screw.

Indeed, do you have to check the MAF if you are going to purchase the tune model?

I only plan on doing LTs, cats, and exhaust but I will be tuning those once installed. Am I better off just buying the tune model then? I was reading up on maryland's site and there does some to be more HP potential but vararam's site states the no tune goes well with the same bolt ons I wanted to do.

I believe a tuner can tune around the lazy MAF. Me I would want the better one no matter. Honestly I would call VaraRam and let them know what you are wanting to do.. They are really nice people and should be able to steer you in the right direction. For me it was No-Tune or nothing.

thank you for the fast replies! also I was wondering if i could drive my car with the tune model installed for a few months before i brought it to the dyno or would it be hard on the engine?

Probably will have idle issues along with surging and bucking. But best to talk directly to them.

Yeah...when I talked to them I think that was pretty much a NO. You could probably drive from your house to the shop if you don't live that far but other than that you probably shouldn't.

I would just wait it out and do it with the tune....or just go No Tune version.

I don't think there is like a 10 - 20 hp difference between the two. Actually if I remember from talking with them, until you get to where you add a cam and stuff you probably won't see much of a difference. The No Tune was setup to include cars with the intake, headers, and exhaust.

Thank you so much. I think I am probably going to buy the no-tune model. I dont see enough of a benefit to spend 650 on a dyno tune for 5 extra horses. I plan on eventually doing a dyno tune but it's not worth it until I install some more hardware.
