I have had issues with my RVM after placing my front camera in front it. Pretty sure it partially blocking incoming light?

EDIT: After rereading your question, I think I misunderstood. Do you mean the Onstar symbol on the mirror is dimming? No clue on that.

no the entire mirror is dimmed unless its just the tinting of rear window but seems pretty dark.
i would still see vehicles with their lights on but if somebody walking or a car with no DRLs was back there at night i could easily miss them.

is this RVM thing you mention that knob in center of dash that senses day or nightand adjust brightness?
cuz that was gonna be my next question; i was disappointed with how dim the HUD is on sunny days and today noticed a MASSIVE uptick in brightness cuz its first dreary rainy day i drove my car.
SO can i block/partially block this to keep HUD display brighter all the time? i do hav it maxxed with the control knob already.

ok so wheres the sensor that controls the brightness of the HUD? yesterday on a cloudy rainy day it was bright as hell, just perfect.
now today its sunny out and i can barely see the hud

i tried covering that knob/sensor at base of windshield and hud never got any brighter
i tried covering these little holes by the interior light
NEXT there seems to be a little eye down in the HUD itself that muct be the sensor.

I don’t know about the ’15, but there is a sensor on back driver’s side of my mirror (2010) that I believe is an ambient light sensor. My front cam is mounted directly in front of it on my car and causes my mirror to dim sometimes.

im guessing thats not it on 2015 since i have already unplugged the onstar since i dont pay for it anyways and i hate accidentily hitting the buttons trying to adjust the mirror and really hate thos bright blue and red lights while night driving.

would this affect the dimness of the mirror?

it was already unplugged when it got much brighter on the rainy day versus the dull brightness on sunny days

Maybe reconnect it back the way it should and see what you got?
I haven't any more ideas on this, hopefully someone else ideas.

i plugged it back in and the RVM never got any brighter
BUT when i turned it to the side looking out the side window it was as bright as you would expect.
SO it must just be tinting back there that makes it so dark.

Auto headlights/DRL sensor is in the center of the dash.
