He's been checking in on the forum pretty frequently, but I've heard that he's just too busy with other things at the moment to participate in discussions.

Why would GM destroy this by making a more powerful car (Z-28).That would imo dmg the ZL-1 name. Makes no sense,If they do come out with a Z-28 in the future ,it should not be more powerful than the ZL-1. Just my 2cents

Who says the Z28 has to be more powerful than the ZL1?

Also by the RPO system a Camaro "Z28" with a V6 would be Labeled a Z26 do to the fact that it has a V6. Examples of this would be the Z24 Cavalier (had a 4 cylinder) and the Z26 Beretta (had a V6).

Your logic is sound but still incorrect. The number of cylinders was never part of the Z2* package. In fact the Monte Carlo and the Lumina had Z34 packages.

The second gen caviler Z24 (1988-1994) came standard with the 2.8 L 60° V6, this was also the first year for the Z24 package. In 1990 the Z24 and the was upgraded to the 3.1 L 60° V6. It wasn't until the third gen (1995-2005) when the Caviler came with only 4 cylinder engines, the 2.3 L quad 4 and the later 2.4 L twin cam.

The first gen (1991-1934) Lumina Z34 coupe also had a V6, the 3.4 L twin cam V6. The later fifth gen (1995–1999) Monte Carlo also had a Z34 package. Which had the 3.4 L twin cam V6 from 95-97, and the 3800 V6 from 98-99.

The fact that the Beretta Z26 and the later Z24 Cavalier had the same number of cylinders as the RPO code's last number was just coincidence. GM tried to label cars with Z packages in order to give them a more sporty and performance feel.

I've not seen any evidence that should be the case yet...

We've not seen that hood on any ZL1's on any of the recent videos nor is it on the ZL1 being auctioned in Las Vegas. It could be another Camaro just as easily or even more easily than the ZL1. Speculation puts it in the Z28 forum.

Until further evidence is presented ... I'd say we should keep it here. If we find out about a Z28 later on, we can just as easily move it. But since there technically isn't a Z28 (that we know of), we may as well just keep it here and assume its a track pack for the ZL1
