I have a V6 Camaro and a V8 2013 Mustang GT. Huge difference. Is the V6 slow? No but it's nothing like the GT. Also even with my MRT 2.0 exhaust on the Camaro (which is really good IMO) it's nothing compared to the sound of the stock exhaust of the V8.
Love both of them but in different ways. |

My God there is so much butthurt going on in this thread its hilarious.
I told the mods to kill the thread yet it still exists. Even one mod went so far as to call out the OP and put words in his mouth. Get a grip guys...he never said he said his V6 was as fast or faster. So much blowing out of proportion and then theres the generalization thrown out there by some of you that all V6 owners are the same. "Go drive a ZL1 and then get back with us"........really??????? Lol. There are a lot of great members here and great discusions. Then theres these threads. Mods....kill it

Just to keep this going, the only thing worse than a V6 owner trying to justify his purchase, is a V6 guy dressing up his car in SS or ZL1 parts....
Ha, said it...

But on the other hand, doesn't hurt my feelings if someone drops a V8 in a '69 that came 6 cylinder and makes a clone. On the other hand, I'd hate to waste a good COPO, and of course I don't have the money for it, but I thought it'd be funny to put a ZL1 front end on a black COPO and take it to my local drag strip and not tell anyone it isn't my car, get some races going.

And, for Christmas this year I got a Valentine V1 to put in the ZL so I'm hoping to avoid some of the tickets from the highway patrol guys. They seem to lack a sense of humour when you stretch the legs on the car and the "I'm cleaning the carbon out" doesn't work with them.

Also, I promise you that SS you test drove had Regular gas in it, so the ECU had the timing changed to protect the engine. Totally different beast with AFM deactivated and premium gas tables activated.

Other than the fact, not opinion, that the l99 smokes the V6 as it should, the other big difference is that V8 sound that you just can't get from a V6. The ZL1 smokes the L99 as it should too. I don't k know why people get butt hurt over facts.
I do however have to agree with the op in a way that the L99 doesn't give you that seat of the pants feel for how fast it actually goes. |
