Scosche or Metra dash kits?
Hello everyone. I just recently bought my 2010 1SS which came with the Boston Acoustics sound system. This system is a big disappointment from what I am used to. I have Infinity Kapa 6x9 and 6.5 components in my old car that I want to switch over. I have these ran off a 4 channel amp so I want to install a nice double din cd player. Like the title say which kit is better? I have seen on these forums people complaining a lot about the Scosche kit but it looks much nicer than the Metra. I will also be installing my subs and amp when I can afford a better alternator(the amp is a Crescendo BC3500D).

Unfortunately there are issues with both. I personally have the scosche kit because I did not like the appearance of the metra. The is a very long thread talking about the issues with the scosche, however some people say theirs works perfectly fine.
Mine works great, however I do have a drastically reduced distance for my keyless entry (An issue that many other people have as we'll) But if you wanna upgrade the stereo, you really don't have a choice. Hope it works out for you! |

Definitely the scosche kit. I'm sorry but the metra kit is just ugly in my opinion. It looks like a calculator from 20 years ago.
Unfortunately both kits have issues. So you are essentially trying your luck with both. I just ordered the alpine dash kit, which is exactly the same as the scosche kit (both made by scosche, just different design), and both kits look so much better than the metra kit. Not to mention the lower touch screen is pretty cool as well. I was fairly fine with the stock radio in my 2010, but once one of my speakers blew, I decided to upgrade, and since I went with a very high end audio upgrade, I didn't want the stock radio to be bottlenecking the sound quality. You're going to be happier with the scosche kit simply because it looks much better and much more OEM.

I'm going to give the scosche kit a try. It just looks better than the metra. Metra did not put enough design thought into that unit it's fugly as hell. I hate that monochrome retarded output screen with the 1970's trucker chick...yeah I'm so missing out on that setup.
