A) they are wheel weights and not some other type of weight specifically desigend for this (see 2nd picture where its clearly shown they are differently shaped) and B) that they didnt see the obvious (regular glue wont hold) and attached said weights with some sort of high temp compound that WONT let them fly off. Since when did this whole place get a mechanical engineering degree? If it was unsafe or would fall apart they wouldn't have released it, they KNOW they are under the microscope.

I know how GM can end all worries about this issue. Just come on here and tell us that the glue used to hold these lead weights to the wheel are is the same glue that holds the heat tiles on the space shuttle together.. Even if its not true, there is no way we could test this theory out unless we strap the Camaro to a rocket and send it to space..

What other production cars employ such methods? I'm not a car expert, but I have never seen this on any other car in my entire life. |

So much drama for something so small. It's there for a reason and I've never had any part of my Camaros (1988 and 2000) just fall off.

So I got the chance to check out a CTF car a couple of weeks ago. Here is a pic of one of the wheels. Don't see any weights on this caliper but the wheel weights are right there.
Here is a zoom in of the caliper area. I know the wheel is kinda in the way but I dont believe there are any weights onthis caliper.

Wow, so many posts about such a small thing.
For the record, my GT500 has similar, if not the same, 4-piston Brembo brakes as the Camaro and I have no "weights" on my calipers. I've also had no vibration or squeal at any point during the 23K miles I've driven the car. I sure hope the answer is a good one. The last thing GM needs is a bunch of bad press about the Camaro for whatever reason. |

Sorry to keep removing posts, but this is a technical forum, so please keep the discussions technical in nature so members can easily check up on this thread for answers. I understand and share in the frustration of not yet having a definitive answer on this, but let's please keep the color commentary out of here. Thanks.
