What tires?

Got a 2012 RS about a month ago, knowing it was going to need some new tread up front. Rears had been replaced not too long ago so I just figured I would get fronts to match. The rears are HanKook Ventus St so in looking for fronts, I learned these are made for SUVs and trucks. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but I don't wan to get new fronts if these tires aren't a good match for the Camaro. If they aren't do I need to get new rears also or can I get good fronts and replace the rears when they need it. Thanks for your responses

Wheels and tires are the topic of the week, it seems lol...

I've got Nitto's NT05's in the back, and the Firestone Wide Ovals in the front and it looks decent. I'm probably going to get some Nitto's for my fronts soon - but it all looks decent enough right now. The Wide Ovals are great tires and not too pricey - especially for the fronts. Consider them... nothing says you have to get the same brand of tire for both front and rear...

Got any pics of your rears right now? It'd help get a better picture of how they will look in the front.

Depends how much you want to spend. I put Michelin Pilot Super Sports on mine and they are great. Not sure if they fit the stock rim widths, though.

Rear tires

I put M/T street radials on the rear. I went with 305/35 20's on stock rims. I & other street enthusiast think they look good. Now, as in performance, there is no traction in cold or wet weather. In the cold or wet environment you have to drive "very slow with exstreme caution". For example ...I get side-ways in third.

I hope this helps.

Given the car weighs 3800# I would not worry about using an SUV tire, but it might not be the best tire for the kind of driving you want to do, whatever that might be.

I put General G-MAX AS-03's on my RS three days after I got it. Didn't trust the P-Zero's in the snow, plus IMO they rode like crap. You don't need tires for the weather like we do up here, but these have been great. Never once skidded, slid, or spun the tires on some pretty nasty road conditions.

They are a 40K mile all-season tire and (I thought) were a good buy for the price. They were one of the few that Tire Rack had for Camaro's with staggered tires.

I have the V12s on my car also. Looks like Hankook stopped making them to fit the RS wheels with their new V12 evo2 tires. They have been good tires so far. Looking at the General AS-03 tires, they are even lighter than the V12s.

Seeing as you live in the south, I recommend the Continental ExtremeContact DW, or DWS if you're worried about cold weather I guess... I've been driving all winter (North Florida) with them on the front and Michelin PSS on the rear, they've been fantastic.

Wet weather is absolutely no problem too, very good tires. Though I can't say how long they last, put about 3000 on them so far and they still look new. As I'd hope.
