Yeah, it's really there. Like I said, it connects down at the OnStar module behind the glove box, I'm pretty sure it was a grey cable with one bare wire and one white wire (like an audio cable)... I'll see if I can get a pic tomorrow (if I remember lol)

I disconnected it from the module (just depinned the connector, so I can put it back if I want).
With out the factory head unit, OnStar doesn't do any good... So it's removed from the car, sitting on my desk. lol

Not that I want OnStar tracking me anyway.

Everything should work off the bat if you're using factory equipment.
The PAC RPK5-GM4101 kit makes sure that it does.

However, if you have custom subs and amplifier, then you'll either need to splice into your factory wire, run new lines from your stereo, or use the FARK kit.

But you'll lose the center channel with after market amp, you'll need to crossover the left and right to simulate the center with another amp.

You'll have at least 3 amps in all (at least) if you're going aftermarket amps and attempting to retain all speakers/sub.

I'm keeping my OnStar because my '12 Camaro has in vehicle WIFI.
All Canadian Camaros has it, it's a mandatory upgrade from our government.
It's free, if anyone inquiring. The dealership will order the parts and install for you.

This is good! Which means I no longer have to open up the overhead console and run the wire down. Kudos to you.

Quick question about power from the PAC to the NEX. The red, black and yellow wires from the PAC all run into a circuit board (shrink wrapped) and the a single red wire runs out which I don't get. My 4100NEX has all three wires that need connecting (red, yellow, black) and I need them all connected no?

NEVER MIND...figured it out, my bad.

Okay, so.... I've added a microphone wire for those who's interested in tapping into the factory mic. As shown by @seishuku, there are two wires, a black hot wire and a grey secondary. What you want to do is to cut your cable on the end that can't be plugged into the radio, now you splice out the wires within, black for black, and blue for grey. Test it out before you wrap it with tape and reorganize your cable under the glove compartment.

Alternatively, you can cut the wire on the provided microphone from the 8200 NEX radio and bridge that to the factory mic instead.

Hows the sound quality during calls?
I was always told the stock mic would not work with aftermarket radios.

I haven't heard it myself, but my wife didn't have any complaints.
My head unit is a Kenwood KMM-BT515HD, replaced the very basic factory unit that couldn't even do BT streaming.

Stock mic is just like any other mic out there... you were told that it wouldn't work because there are no adapters to connect to it. But that doesn't mean you can't splice wires to the mic and run it to your aftermarket radio.

Taken from another post that had it working.
I was just tracing the wire to do the same instead of opening up the overhead console.

I PMd Knockout and this was his response last year

"No longer part of these forums.
Factory microphone has different impedance than aftermarket microphone. I was able to successfully wire it however you'll get very bad interference. Use the aftermarket microphone and put it in the factory location."

As long as you guys say it works, I may do this now.

Static/Interference is caused by improper shielding.
Just make sure your wires aren't exposed and carefully wrapped.
