Adams Great White Drying Towel Question

So I have been using my Adams Great White Drying Towel with much success for a little while now, but this weekend I ran into issues. The towel appears to have lost its absorbency. I'm noticing it is just pushing the water around more and creating a streaky mess. I tried the boiling trick but that didn't seem to help. Do these towels have a limited life span?

Nope. Towel does go in the dryer, but on low heat to fluff it up.

Even if you don't use fabric softener in the loads with the microfiber specifically the inside drum of many dryers will be so heavily coated with the stuff that it will start to impact the other loads. I've run into this a few times when my wife has gone laundry crazy before I run a load of MF. To counteract it I've started putting a couple of regular cotton towels in the dryer before I put my MF in there and running them alone for 30-60 minutes. That allows the bath towels to pick up all that excess fabric softener residue before I put my MF in there.

A loss of absorbency points to one thing - towel contamination. The towel has something in it (like fabric softener) thats acting as a repellent the water rather than allowing it to absorb.

The best solution is boiling. Bring a large pot of water to boil, add a couple oz's of white vinegar, then put the towel in for a few moments to soak. Keep it submerged, but make sure it doesn't rest against the bottom or against the edge for too long.

Pull it out with tongs, rinse under cool water and then run thru your regular wash routine. That should restore it to like-new condition.

Thanks everyone. I will give boiling another shot. I really like the towel and hopefully it can return it to good as new.

I avoid this possibility totally by AIR drying all my adams MFs & drying towels, really doesn't take long and no problems with contamination....I do this INSIDE the house so wind doesn't contaminate them with dirt! Even though I got the idea from my wife drying her delicates this way, she thinks I'm anal!!!!
