Question for those in the 700-775 rwhp range

Have you run the qtr mile? Reason I ask, I was looking at one of the Mopar sites and a recent post of a Hellcat caught my eye. When I do my Zl1 build up I plan to be in that range and am curious where our cars are stacking up.

"We were able to run a 9.93 @ 138mph with 766rwhp and 705rwtq"

Jeez! You're running approx 250rwhp more than a bone stock ZL1, and you're only about 1.3 seconds quicker?
Damn it, I guess these cars aren't so great afterall

I believe he quoted an anecdote from the hellcat forums and is asking a question, not asking a question and immediately answering it. Way to be constructive!

Wish I could help you out OP, I'm all stock, but curious to see the answers!

If I'm not mistaken, RPM in NC ran 9.8s with their 865 hp package. I figure that should work out to somewhere around 720ish rwhp... give or take.

Thanks Dave! Good to see we are on par. I have been thinking about Gm performance test zl1 running 10.0 and they are saying around 720hp at the motor, so it get confusing of what it will really run and what hp to get it there.

There are two hellcats at my local track I run with, neither of them can keep up with me (I'm not a ZL1). One I think is small bolt on only and is in low 11's, the other he has a pulley change, some fuel adders, and a tune he runs mid to high 10's. I don't think with our car you will need the same RWHP to match their speeds because they are so much heavier, but the weight obviously helps hook up a little.

There’s a big difference in additional power to run in lower senconds. 550 RWHP will get you into the mid 11s and 650 RWHP may get you into the mid 10s. But, you will need about 800RWHP is o run mid 9s. It’s not exactly every 100 hp decreases time by 1 second. Consider the weight, suspension, tires, and driver. And not in that order.

For example my foxbody mustang runs 9.50 @ 150 with 800rwhp at a weight of 3700 with me in it and 8.80@160 at 985rwhp.

Wow! 9.50s is fast for sure but 8.80s is crazy!

On another note you need to put your fax body on a diet. Thats a bit of weight for that car. Is it full interior? True street?

There are documented stock A10 ZL1's that have run 10.9s (on this forum), with the perfect launch settings. We are already doing 520-540 rwp stock, depending on the dyno. It definitely becomes hard to predict with extra HP due to the factors you mentioned, with the huge factor being the driver.
