anyone run a Jeep SRT8 yet?

My buddy has one with a tune and CAI. Is on board computer registered an impressive 4.4sec 0-60mph in 50 degree temps.
I'm a bone stock 6spd SS do I stand a chance? He's starting to trash talk now that im past the 1500 mile break-in. I'm thinking my best chance is 40-50mph freeway roll-ons.
What say you?

They're very quick off the line, but you'll have him on the top end. So you'll need to practice your launching skills if you want to have a chance racing the 1/4 mile.

Camaro SS has a lot better top end.

You might want to get some exhaust and CAI before you give it a go. Stock the Jeep SRT8 runs 13.2 and the Camaro runs 13.0 To tip the scales in your favor you might want to get a custom tune.

They're quick but after the race it's still a "Jeep"!

I had an 08. 12.80 with temp tag in the window. 12.50 with headers and CAI; no tune. 60fts are usually 1.72s, weather permitting. Nice trucks but they will keep you at the pumps. I have not run one yet but I plan to run my friend in his 08 soon. I will let you all know the results.

That AWD gives the Jeep the edge on launches, but you will catch him at the end. He cant stay up front for long. Definately work on your launches since thats his advantage.

I would be sh*ting myself in happines if our durango got 8mpg along with 425hp and what 400torque? were stuck with 8mpg with only 250hp and 300tq... Well I still love our durango tho

Oh yah and whanted to add to whoever said about how the srt8 is "just a Jeep" well your camaro is just a glorified chevy...

It's called aerodynamics, he doesn't have it. Top end you'd take him that's for sure.

You'll catch up fast if he was stock. Practice will make this close since he is modded but you still have an edge.

Trust me you will beat him from a roll we raced one which sounded like it had exhaust on it from 20mph, we were pulling away till 100mph, BTW the camaro had 4 guys in it its 6speed manual and no idea about the jeep srt8.
Also, I need to note that they are very fast from a dig till 60mph or so, after that aerodynamics just kills that car.

good luck
