Shifter problems when cold

I drive my 2010 ss/rs all year round. When cold, I have to either use hard pressure, or Finesse to shift through the gears. Sometimes it'll pop out of gear or feel like your mashing parts inside the tranny while shifting. Once warmed up good, no problem. You can shift to and fro just like normal. Looking for insight or advice.

Nope

9,500 miles. I have an appointment at the Chevy dealer Monday morning. It would be nice to have more information from others?

This is a GM performance car thing. They all do it, or atleast all of them I've driven. I think it's the fluid used in the transmission.

Well, the problem is getting worse and has caused me to grind several gears by not forking the desired gear along the shaft properly.

Doubt the GM performance answer, I've got over 4k on my M6 and no problems. My guess is either a faulty trans or need to fluid swap.

I'll let you know Monday

We'll see what the dealer says as well. Remember, this thing shifts perfect once the car is good and warmed up.

I have the same issue, but i have noticed even fully warmed up 2nd and 3rd gear are not perfect, there can be a slight resistance or grind going into 3rd. I think it's a bad syncro and when the trans fluid is cold, it makes it worse since the syncro wont spin as freely due to the viscosity of the cold fluid. I've been trying to get my dealer to replace the synro but no luck so far, they try to give me the BS that a slight grind is normal, which is bull because this is the first manual trans I've ever had that has done it. Hopefully your dealer is better than mine.

Had the same problem with mine so I went synthetic with the tranny fluid and changed the throw out bearing. Apparently the stock bearing doesn't have enough travel so the gears get hung up from time to time. I had to go aftermarket though 'cause my dealer is full of sh*t as well!

Just left the Dealer

Dealer had the car all day and said they could not reproduce the concerns I had with the cold shifting (I knew that was coming). On the way home the shifing sequence sure seemed smoother and unobstructed. I can live with that.....for now. I love the car (my 8th Camaro to date).

i think there might be a tsb on the throw out bearing.
thats what i think i over heard at the dealer when they replaced mine.
im going back friday so they can bleed the clutch/brake fluid its really black and dirty around the rim. I was wondering that this might cause the shifter to sometimes get stuck in gear even when the clutch is fully depressed.
good luck
joey
