Tire suggestions 2016 2ss
So it's time for a new set of shoes after keeping the OEM tires on it I think it's time to look at some other options. I remember some people suggesting 305/30/r20 's and that they wouldn't rub those electronic bits inside the tire well. Is this still been the case also i'm sure you guys have burned through a lot more tires than I have so what tire brand do you like for just occasional sporty riding and mostly commute?

I wish there was a high-performing run-flat replacement that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, but sadly, no such animal exists...at least not in the sizes I was after when I was shopping for tires. As Krops said, the Michelin PS4’s are probably the best “street tire” available right now. If budget is somewhat restricted, I would recommend the Nitto NT555 G2. I have them on my car, and think they’re pretty good for the price! I just hope I don’t get a flat, no jack, no pump, no fix-flat, nothing!!! Crap, now I probably just jinxed myself!!!

I recently made the move from the OEM Goodyear runflats on my 2SS to a set of slightly wider (255/40/20 and 285/35/20) PS4S tires, and didn't regret it. (Caveat, I do not track the car.)
The ride is smoother and much less noisy (obviously, since these are non-runflats), behavior on cold and wet/rainy pavement is night and day. Cornering grip and straight line traction are very similar under ideal conditions for each set, I can't really feel much difference on the street. Perhaps the PS4S feels a tiny bit inferior in both when compared to fully heated up Goodyear tires, but since I have to drive the car in the cold and the wet, I had no choice, the Goodyears hydroplane on the smallest of puddles and traction is nonexistent under 60-65 degrees. One rarely quoted feature of the PS4S is that the sidewall is almost completely perpendicular to the rim and has not just a tiny rubber lib for protection, but almost the entire sidewall overhangs the rim a bit, so my lame ass hopefully won't curb the wheels (again) with these tires. Finally, to round it out, the main downside of the PS4S is price, it's pretty expensive at $300-330 per tire, though its allegedly higher actual treadwear may make up for this, I'll see.

It depends if you are running the stock SS wheels to run wider tires. I had Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires put on my 2016 SS stock size in front 245/40 and I went up to 285/35 in the rear but I had stock wheels on mine. My ZL1 has the same size as the SS 1LE tires and they handle so much better than SS tires did.

The Michelins proved themselves in the downpour on I-287 yesterday (no alternative, had to go), giving me excellent wet traction and only one very small rear wiggle with a giant puddle, otherwise rock solid even up to 75 mph. Night and day difference compared to OEM tires.
Those freakin' potholes, though, it's infuriating. Can't even see them in the rain.
