That's the trap many fall into. They feel that because their V6 Camaro makes 300+ hp it must be fast.
Unfortunately due to the weight (3700 + lbs) its not all that fast. Don't get me wrong its not slow. But by today's standards its quite average in speed.

Even the 2012 turbo charged S is rated at mid 6 second 0 - 60 and a 15 second quarter mile. If this is an older less powerful model, you can expect to win in the straight line.

As for handling, whichever of you has more experience in the twisties will win, and when turns are involved, driver skill plays a much larger role.

A V6 with full bolt ons, Long tube Headers, Exhaust, throttle body, CAI, Ported insulated intake and tune would eat the little bugger alive. Who would race a stock V6 Camaro anyways? You could attain 290 whp with these mods.. Good tires and suspension will leave it far behind.

Wouldn't catch me driving a Cooper Mini if you paid me, but several mags and online sources got high 14s out of the Mini Cooper S.

Here's the stats from one online mag testing

2012 Mini Cooper S vert
Valvetrain: DOHC, 16v, Valvetronic variable valve timing
Compression ratio: 10.5:1
Horsepower: 181bhp@5,500rpm
Torque: 177ft-lb@1,600-5,000rpm (192lb-ft on overboost mode)
Rev limit: 6,500rpm

Suspension (F) MacPherson Strut, Coil Spring, Anti-Roll Bar
Suspension (R) 4-link Independent, Aluminum Rear Trailing Arms, Coil Spring, Anti-Roll Bar
Steering: Rack & Pinion, Electronic Power Assist
Wheels/Tires: 17×7″ Alloy, 205/45/ZR17 run-flat tires
Brakes (F/R): 11.6″ vented discs F/ 10.2″ solid discs R. Anti-lock, corner brake control, elec. brakeforce distribution

0-60mph: 6.5s
Top speed: 142mph
1/4 Mile: 14.8 seconds

So its real close to V6 Camaro performance wise. But I'll definately give the edge to the V6 Camaro in a stragiht line.

Yes, close with the 07s and up. Hands down Camaro vs the s/c mini s. Is that better clarity?

As for the Ford, thanks for teaching me something.

That's a vert. Not a hardtop. The vert is slower.

At autocross mini coopers and cooper s's are in D stock class with us v6 camaros and mustangs and cobalt ss' s, one of our cooper drivers and cobalt ss drivers run national events and are very good drivers and they are hard to match time with makes sundays fun with something to compete with
