Wow somebody loaded that baby up for comfort. Nice cruiser there. Looks as though the rear mount antenna and rear bumper guards aren't there.

2E-Air Cond.
M- Power glide 2 spd auto
G- console
S- Rear mount antenna
R- Rear speaker

3S- Z23 Interior decor Group
D- U29 Under dash courtesy lamps
L- Rally Sport

5B- Rear bumper guards
Y- Deluxe seat belts
Good catch on the bumper guards! He has them but they are in bad condition so he hasn't put them back on the car. I will ask him about rear antenna. He probably has it, he has the original spark plugs that came with the car.

I don't know how he could have thought the car was born green, must have been a great paint job when he bought the car from the original owner.

I'm really looking forward to getting it up on the lift tomorrow so my cousin can inspect it!

If you don't buy I will. That's a good entry-level 1st gen model imo

I got the Camaro up on a lift @ my cousin's shop and he said it's rough. He showed me where things were cobbled together and some gaps that were filled with Bondo. The frame rails have been welded and the welds are solid but rough. The door, fender/hood gaps were not very good either. There is not much rust at all anywhere in the car which is a big plus.

My cousin does restorations and he estimated $15K-$20K to do a good restoration. It looks like everything is there so it could be worth a lot of money restored being it's a numbers matching 67.

The car is cool no doubt but needs more work than I'm wiling to pay for. My cousin said he wouldn't pay more than $7500 but I think it's worth closer to $10K from my research. It just needs more work than I'm willing to pay for.

If you are still interested let me know what I can to help you.

Do yourself a favor. If you do not have the means to do a restoration on your own, buy one that is already complete. You will save a pile of money and tons of headaches.

You have a valuable tool that many do not. You have a cousin who does restorations so you can take a fully restored car to him to inspect the work.

This is the best advice you're gonna get.

Excellent advice! In this day and age with the shop labor rates, the cost of parts, outrageous cost of chroming, etc. most every car out there would not sell for the cost of restoring it unless it is a pretty rare beast.
Also factor in how many projects cars there are for sale; i.e. cars people bought intending to restore and they lose interest or run out of money etc. and never finish them. This accounts for a lot of "project cars."

Sure the initial outlay of cash is more, but if the car is already done someone else most likely took the loss and you have a car you can begin cruising and enjoying immediately.

From my research & some assistance from other members I have an offer in mind. Once I get the car up on a lift to check out the underbody I will adjust my offer according to what it looks like.
because a classic is worth what the buyer sees. I paid more than what my 69 camaro is "worth" after looking at the body/paint/engine/trans/rear/suspension I knew immediately that I could not buy a 10,000 roller and build a car to my specs for anything less than 70,000. hell, I had 30,000 into a 1996 s10 street truck. shit, I bought the roller for $800. build one right and you realize what it takes to build a "big boy toy" the right way.
an appraiser wouldn't value my car at much, a real car enthusiast immediately sees the money/time invested.

if you can get that car for 12,000 snatch it up. any running/driving first gen Camaro under 20,000 with no rust and a straight body is a good deal. 12,000 + a quality 6,000 paint job (assuming no major body work needed) is a STEAL!!!

the best part about a 1st gen is that it's the one that increases in value every year while everyone else's Camaro loses value. I call my 69 an investment. if I even need to bail, I can easily get my $ back + some. I cant say that about the other 6 cars in my driveway.
