Am I missing a hose?

I went to get a smog check done today and the guy was about to fail me due to this hose/plug missing. I had no clue it was even that way. Luckily he still passed me, but does anyone know what goes here?

Thanks for any help!

I'm guessing you're having issues uploading a picture.

Used the Go Advanced button and then the paperchip icon to upload.

That is part of your PCV system and there should be a black vacuum line connecting this to either your intake manifold at the front of your vehicle at or near the throttle plate or the air plenum coming off of your air filter going into the throttle plate. If you have an aftermarket air filter could be that someone just forgot to hook it back up. If its not throwing any codes or causing a rough ide you can plug it or look for the other end that's open like I talked about earlier as this is where the rubber line plugs into that I was talking about. Hope this helps and good luck.

Maybe the car had a catch can that was removed or something

The LS3 is capped here. I believe the L99 has a hose attached as part of the PCV.

I'm not saying your wrong because all cars vary a little year to year but on my car the intake tube is connected to the front of the passenger side cover. I also have a catch can hooked up and working but that port isn't used on mine

It's up to you wont hurt anything if you just plug it, I have forced induction on my 2010 L99 and yes I use that vent as well for my catch can. I'm sure like some of the other folks have already discussed here some are plugged off and some are being utilized like I stated earlier. My car is an early model 2010 that i got in June of 2009 and the vent on the drivers side of the valve cover was being used to vent vapors as I explained in my first post. Either way I think you'll be fine if you want to plug it off. If you notice in your picture it is dirty at the base of the vent this is because the oil vapors coming out of the vent tube are wet and dirt is being collected at the base of the valve stem. Like I said no big deal just plug it off sir.

As someone else said, from the factory the L99 uses that port for a PCV line, while the LS3 has it capped off and pulls from the valley cover port. As long as you are running either one for a complete PCV system you are fine. But I would definitely be running one with or without a catch can.
