WELL there was the December shutdown for the holidays......but if your dealer actually had an allocation for the car, it should have started to progress through WAY before now......I have a feeling that your dealer that took your order does NOT have an allocation for your car.......and until thgey do......it will go no where. I would go directly to you dealer and start knocking heads to get a answer......or take your business elswhere.

i wouldn't say "WAY before now". They were shut down untill Jan 11. So I am betting the allocation run for last week (which runs Tuesday to Monday) Jan 12- 18 was probably 0 for all dealerships as to not flood the orders. It was the same for summer shut down. There was a spell where ALL dealers had 0-0-0 for I think 3 weeks. I would give them another week or so before I get all up in arms. Keep checking every Friday. This is when you see the most activity as the system updates on Thursday. This holds true until you hit 3300, then check often! If you don't get picked up by Feb 5th... I'd start asking questions.

you could always go to your dealers inventory manager and ask what the allocations look like for this month. He can tell you exactly how many are alloted. Also ask the #1 question... HOW MANY ARE AHEAD OF YOU!

Good luck!

I ordered 12/04/2008, called with VIN 05/18/2009, next call was 05/26/2009 saying it was there at the dealer, now I suppose you can get what color shoes the dash installer is wearing on build day to the minute?

Delivered Labor Day weekend.
Well over 5 months... That was way too long. But I think my dealer had something to do with that.

what exactly are allocations?

i placed my order on 12/22/09, was told it would take 8-12 weeks and my car has been also sitting at 1100 since 1/12. i would like to know the science between the allocation so this way when i go to the dealership and start looking to murder someone i will know what i'm yelling about.

thanks guys.

As I already stated... DO NOT GO IN YELLING just yet. You ordered during shut down and your last update was 1/12, still shut down. the first after shutdown update would be 1/15 or even 1/22.

Calm down boys. You have not waited too long yet.

Give them a few weeks to get back with regular updates.

Allocation... this is a dealers ability to submit an order for production. You see back in 10/08 dealers were taking all the orders they could then came to realize GM only accepted a certian number per month. This ended up being VERY bad for a dealer that took 100 orders but only got 10 allocations per month... see the problem. Add the constraints to that... CGM was on constraint, SS was on constraint, LT with RS was on constraint... and so on...

All you need to do is ask a few simple questions to your dearship INVENTORY MANAGER. Skip your salesman/woman. Go for the right person. Ask them the following question and you will know exactly where you stand.

#1. How many allocations do you have this cycle? A cycle runs from the 15th of this month to the 15th of next month. Allocations are set for Tuesdays so if there are 4 Tuesdays this cycle he can tell you how many orders will be picked up each Tuesday. For example Jan 15 through Feb 15 has 4 Tuesdays. The INVENTORY MANAGER will know how many allocations he has for those 4 Tuesdays. Lets say its 1-1-1-1... Thats 1 car per week... This leads to the next question:

#2 How many orders are at 1100 before me? If there are 10 before you and they only got 4... guess what, you dont get picked up this month. now they will not know next months allocations.

With these two questions, you should be able to get a grip on where you stand. Its is about 6-8 weeks AFTER you go to 2000.

I hope this helps. Don't rip your salesperson yet... they may not understand. You need to go to the inventory manager.

NOW... there is also whats called "turn and earn" meaning, sell a camaro, get an allocation. Not sure if/when this was implemented. This is the way it SHOULD have been from day 1 but wasnt.

Good luck, if anyone needs any more help, just ask.
