4 speed GTO. But with the Camaro seat being so low do you find that you're lifting your arm up unaturally( compared to the stock or regular short shifter height) which I think would be uncomfortable again given how low the seats are in our cars? |

In short, it's not as bad as you think. If anything, the only thing that gets in the way is the seat bolster, which is obvious since old cars lacked those. On rearward gears (1st, 4th, and 6th), the bolster does get in the way a bit when I shift but it's not like it's a huge problem. As far as I'm concerned, lifting my arm and grabbing the knob takes a much shorter sleight of hand now than when I had to reach to grab it when it was stock (I like to drive with my seat pretty far back); so it really does tranquilize driving the car on a day to day basis. At least for me. Another perk is that it makes a real nice resting spot for my arm while the car is in motion. I find myself resting my arm a lot on the shift knob while I'm driving, lol. Most would probably find it uncomfortable but I'm okay with it, and the main reason I did it was to go along w/ my car's appearance theme. |

Thanks for the honest reply. I was actually thinking of going with the longer shifter too for the old school feel but I'm very happy with my regular Hurst short one. Maybe this weekend when the temp gets above freezing I'll take the car cover off and snap a pic as I had a custom engraved shifter made.
Anyway here's a pic of my old school look car taken in the summer...sounds good just to say the word. ps- love your hounds-toothe seats! |
