Adjust alarm sensitivity? (attempted break in)
Does anyone know how to adjust the alarm sensitivity? I know the 4th gens had a sensor in the passenger side rear fenderwell. While at work yesterday someone tried to bash my drivers side window in with a rock. They left several deep chips in the glass but luckily it did not break. I don’t think the alarm went off because it gave no notification when I unlocked it after work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my third round of bad luck with the car since getting her so hopefully it’s over now…..

There is no shock sensor in this car. 4thgens had an optional antitheft system that added a shock sensor but that is not available on this car. The only way your alarm will go off is if someone physically unlocks and opens the door.

Yeah, breaking in and looking into the glove compartment for example without opening the door means they can get your stuff out without setting off the alarm. A thief can also steal your wheels rather easily without aftermarket protection..

This is exactly why I'll be putting a aftermarket alarm on my Camaro once I have it. Usually with these factory alarms they don't go off until something has already happened. I want to know when someone is in the process of jacking with my car. Then I can introduce them to my buddy Sig Sauer.

Thanks for the information. That's what I was afraid of. Looks like its time for a few little aftermarket add ons...

Please go get some wheel locks too! I used to get these things at Belle tire called Gorilla Lugs that used a slotted key to get off. The nice thing is that they look almost stock. They are not a unique key, though, but they can be modified to be unique with a little welding and grinding (and won't affect the looks).
I put one on each wheel of my Trailblazer SS and never had a problem. Twice I did get up in the morning and find all my lugnuts off instead of one too, so they do work. -Geoff

Just make sure to be careful with the 'fire' button on your aftermarket alarm.

Can an aftermarket alarm piggybackto the factory one, and use same FOB? Or is that out of the question?
