Do a quick search and you can pull up TONS of threads of M6 guys struggling with this issue on the forums as well. Even the major editorials struggled to get definitive lap times out of them for quite some time. I am a huge corvette fan. But there is a reason I went Zl1 this time, and it wasn't money.

THAT BEING SAID.... if you never intend to track it, I don't think most people would have issues with the manual or auto Z06. They look absolutely awesome.
We've been through this with these posters before ... the Z06 trans overheating issue has been resolved in 17-18. They are M6 nut huggers

I would not get a GS over a ZL1. Looking solely from a hp and tq perspective, the GS is a more expensive less powerful and slower car. From a track POV, I think the GS might handle better, but I think a ZL1 would probably get around the track faster because of the extra power. Plus the ZL1 handles quite well itself. As far as looks, I do like the Vettes better. They just look soo good. Even the standard Vette looks better than the ZL1 if you ask me. Putting it all together I would get a ZL1 over any Vette except for a Z06 2LZ or Z06 3LZ...if you can get one of them for a good price. So I gotta agree with zadjaliz. I say Z06 > ZL1 > GS > Stingray.

Congrats! I'm leaning this direction too over the C7.

If you are going to have any person ride shotgun, go with the Camaro. Way more room for both peeps up front. I had a 2016 Z51 tricked out Vette, am now driving a 2018 ZL1 A10.Both good track cars though I've had an issue with the transmission over temping last time out. Going to Daytona this Sunday with some new info and I will be monitoring trans temp the whole time.

I was saving up for a C7 base stingray and realized That the extra 200 HP would be more satisfying in the long run (after I got accustomed to the great looks of the C7). I traded my 2SS in on a 2018 ZL1 and can't wait for the break in period to be over! It is a great car! I am now trying to convince my wife to trade her Subaru for the C7!

Good choice!

C7 GS is not close. C7 Z06 is, but is compromised. Less utility, well-established over-heating issues, inferior A8 vs. ZL1 A10 AND entire design being replaced by mid-engine C8 Vette. Depreciation will be HUGE! The only C7 I would own would be a ZR1 if someone gave it to me for the same price as the ZL1, and even then I do not know what I would do for a transmission. I came from a Gen V Viper GTS and greatly prefer the ZL1 for daily use and fun, cost, etc.

I know this is an old thread but to me a hs is no comparison to a Zl1. Some say it's better than a Z06 but there I disagree. Both have thier own advantages but a Z06 will always get way more attention than a Zl1 although from rolls it's anybody's race. I own both (both manual) and hands down get way more attention and thumbs up in the Z vs The Zl1.

Had 16 Z51 optioned vette with large CCW wheels, manual trans, R888's, Intake, full exhaust no cats, and a performance tune, basically a GS before there was one from GM but with more power. I really like my A10 for DD and for track, my lap times are about the same as the vette at a couple different tracks. However there is no substitute for flooring current beast coming out of a corner exit and heading down a straight. ZL1 wins in the fun department hands down in my book!

The Camaro's rear-end are more stable that the Corvettes are.

The leaf spring design of the Corvette suspension makes the rear-end twitchy at the limits.

The Camaro's multilink rear-end is more confidence inspiring near/at the limits.

I went from a 2017 Stingray to a 2017 ZL1 and I'm not looking back. Loving the additional room and 200HP. Glad you went with the ZL1.

#1. What ever puts a smile on your face, driving, looking at it in awe ! #2. For me is what gives the most bang for your buck ! Being a future 1st New GM owner, There only one I don't see I everyday, I see tons of corvettes, 10-30 at least here in East Texas at large gatherings, Never seen a ZL1 1LE out here in pubic, that's great for me ! I'm planning on smiling, and being in a elite group of owners that realize that this car will be hard to bet and is a benchmark for GM ! It's your hard earned $, enjoy the ride and God bless America !

Tough choice but if the ZL1 didn’t have the supercharger with the extra horsepower would you still pick it over the GS Corvette? My point is in order to decide you need to determine how important the 190hp and 185lb ft of torque are worth to you. Bragging rights or can you actually use the extra power where you drive?

I prefer the Corvette sports car styling, smaller, lighter. The cockpit in the Corvette is a lot more exciting to me and it is easier to see out of. Both fun cars but at $60k plus my money is on the Corvette. Now, if the C8 corvette never gets a manual transmission I will be back for a Camaro.
