I Find It a Little Embarrassing for Ford...

A 2015 Mustang was being sold for charity at the recent Barrett-Jackson auction...there's no real excitement in the audience as hard as the auctioneer tries. As the bidding stalls they actually cut from the live auction to the cars outside. The Mustang for charity only sells for $50K. Ford may have a little problem here.

Isn't that because one already sold at the Mecum for a whopping price?

Yes number one sold at BJ already, however this was for a "charity". It is a to-be-built fully loaded 2015 GT. Gotta guess the car alone is over $40K.

In all honesty ford never does very good, even their charity cars don't pull well. And take away the fact that Rick Hendrix buys them all up, chevy vin 1 cars will easily bring 1 million. So I don't know if you should feel bad for ford as much as you should be glad that Chevy has something more desirable.

You sir are ignorant. Some of the top selling muscle cars at any auctions are Ford's and the AC Cobra 427 has brought more money than any other muscle car in history...

I saw the same auction. The car's MSRP is probably $35k, so whomever bought it donated $15k.

Just so you know, the three highest priced cars from that particular auction were ALL FORDS. I love all American muscle.

I heard from a super secret source friend of a friend who works for a Ford supplier say that Ford is having trouble building any sellable new Mustangs, that they've been putting together 70 a day for the last 3 weeks and are having problems with body fitment and paint. Running way behind schedule on getting enough cars put together to send to dealers.

Might be total bovine poop. I know that's how rumors start so take it with a whole shaker of salt.

At any rate, I'm still just totally unimpressed with the new Mustang. If it's anything like the previous generation car, a mid-cycle refresh might change my mind on it, but right now: meh.

First off the line, maybe. Overall, and I've said this before, I think the 2015 Mustangs are going to bomb out big time. Sales will be way behind Camaros.

Only what is over the price of the loaded GT will go to the charity. Remember this was at a BJ auction. Sad!
