GG tax question

For those that have taken delivery, was the GG tax a separate enrty on your window sticker or is it included in base MSRP? It does not show as an added expense when you do a "build your own" on Chevrolet's website.

It is itemized separately on the window sticker.

Why is it the 2012 Mustang gt500 has no GZ tax? They are close to the same HP. It has also been said that the 2013 gt 500 with 650 hp will have no GZ tax. How is that possible? Now i dont want our ford friends to have to pay, just think somthing is fishy here.

It will show as a separate line on the window sticker.

When you use the build your own it is added into the Auto transmission price (+2,500) so you don't really notice. Not sure where it's at for the manual selection.

However, it does show separate on the sticker... I have seen this in person.

The Gas Guzzler Tax is a separate mandatory option, RPO R8E, $1,300 for the manual and $2,600 for the automatic, that is listed on its own option line on the window sticker.

Get 23mpg highway so it gets past that GG tax. think it goes up to 62mph in 1st gear (manual only, no auto on this car) so its pretty fuel efficient and weight quite a bit less too which helps on mpg.

Exactly... but the build your own only adds $1300 for the Auto selection and nothing for the manual.

I have found that the "Build Your Own" function on the Chevrolet website isn't always 100 percent accurate. The Gas Guzzler option line item on actual window stickers lists $1,300 and $2,600 for the manual and automatic, respectively.

Maybe the 1st 1,300 is built into the MSRP and the additional option of Auto adds another 1,300...

Either way it does show separate on the sticker... I have seen this in person.

The GG tax, does not show up in that MSRP. Is itemized separetly, so you need to actually add it $1,300 for the Manual and $2,600 for the auto.

For example I ordered mine pretty much standard and just added the mats for $155. So my MSRP goes up to $55,150 with delivery charge.

I need to add the $1,300 GG tax to that $56,450 and then add the 6.25% Sales tax $59,978.12. Then about $650 for title and license plates, and my price is $60,628.12. It does seem to add the extra $1,300 on the auto tranny on the website though.

Yeah... like I said... I've seen the window sticker in person on this and other cars and it's a separate line item. Seems the Build Your Own has an error. Just add $1300 to the final calculatged price whether you pick auto or manual and that should be the correct price.

it misses the GG tax by 1mpg. when they went to the aluminum block motor they tweaked the car just enough to avoid it. it is also lighter than the ZL-1 and geared a bit different. the 2009 and 2010 cars had it.

lighter car's get better milage and it is not geared in the standard configuration as low. the standard gt 500 has 3.55 gears.

I would almost bet that a ZL-1 with 3.55 gears, and .5 6th would have to get better milage but most likely be slower.

one thing optimum performace gearing does is usually affect optimum milage a bit.
