Camera

I know this topic has probably been discussed before so maybe you can point me to the right direction. I've been thinking about installing a camera in my Camaro and I was wondering which ones you prefer?

If you are talking about a dashcam, I got one at WalMart for about $50 and it works fine. I do't remember the make, but it was the only one that they had at the time. I have the same one in my truck and the wife's minivan and they all work fine, especially considering the price. If needed I can dig out the manual and post the make. Good luck, it is a real need nowadays with all of the craziness going on on the roads. The one in my Camaro helped me to get GM to buy back my lemon as it was recording while the mechanics were trying to fix the fatal problem and confirmed their ineptitude and the failure to be able to fix the problem.

That...Is...Awesome!!

My camera info is in my sig. I have it hardwired to my fuse box so that it continuously records while parked.

Amazon has a good deal on the Thinkware F750 that includes the rear camera also and the hardwire kit. That model has been discontinued so the price is down.

I am a dashcam believer now, I have had so many close calls. My wife recorded a high speed chase, I have sorta recorded a fatal pedestrian accident(you see brake lights a few blocks ahead at night, and when I get to the stopped car there is a body). Also got a truck puking its transmission on the highway.

Yeah, I got a video of a car deliberately running into the back or another car twice at a light. Took the video to the local PD and they were after the guy but were glad to have some evidence. Hopefully I never get into an accident but if so, I think it will help.

Seems like more and more a dash cam is a very smart thing to have.

After a few days of looking and reading about different ones, and there is quite a bit of different ones out there, I ended up buying a Vantrue x3 dash cam.

I would like to find one that doesn't require any power cables to be ran throughout the car.

There is no shortage of units that use the 12V socket. For me the ability to monitor the vehicle while parked is worth fussing with the cables.

You can get this wiring harness that goes into the overhead console for a radar detector and have them add the extra power leads to connect your camera.
