Where to buy GM parts for 1LE??
Hi all,
I want to add some genuine GM parts to my 1LE but I'm blown away at the shipping costs. Shipping is about 55-65% of the actual part price total. I've tried iamgmparts.com (out of Mississipi) and gmpartsdirect.com (out of North Carolina) and the shipping was outrageous. Where else can I order parts for my car at the prices the above places list but with much less shipping cost? Or is there somewhere that has free shipping? Or is there a place like these places in New York state? Or even the north east? Give me some good options guys. Thanks.

So what I did was to Google "GM parts distributors".
There's a whole bunch of them. I clicked on their sites and entered the parts I wanted and continued to the end to see who had the lowest shipping. What I found was (and this makes sense), the closer you are to the distributor, the cheaper the shipping. Duh, right? So I used a distributor out of Michigan, which is relatively close to me. Where the distributors in Mississippi and North Carolina wanted $500-600 for shipping, the place in Michigan only charged $32. You read that right. So the message is, shop around on the shipping. You will find widely varying rates. The closer distributors will have lower shipping rates.

Just make sure you’re not buying counterfeit parts. There’s a whole industry in China devoted to this. Buddy at work was telling me about a movie he watched where there are counterfeit cities in China that make, package and distribute parts that look GM authentic but aren’t.
