Edelbrock SCT tuner question

Trying to put a mail order tune on my handheld SCT. I downloaded the latest firmware for it. When I plug the handheld into my computer, it says device not found or device is locked? What the heck am I doing wrong? Using windows xp on the computer. Anyone have any ideas?

I was having the same problem. Tried a total of three different computers. After several calls to SCT Tech Support and a remote computer connect by the tech, I ended up shipping the hand held back to SCt for repair. The tech said that he thought that it was a problem in the hand held software. Hope this helps!

P.S., If you want to contact SCT
tech Support, do it by phone! You will have to wait on hold for awhile but at least you will eventually talk to a person. I tried the online chat first and it always timed out with no response. I sent two e-mails and never did get a response.

Thanx. I finally got it to work by downloading the latest software update, then restarting the computer. I did that twice and it finally recognized the handheld. No idea why. Has to be some glitch. I read alot of people have had the same prob.

Shipped my SCT last week. Hope I get it back soon. Congrats on getting yours to work. I'm running Windows XP also. The other two computers that I tried were both Windows 7. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to computers but I felt somewhat better when the tech couldn't get it to work either!

Thinking in getting new gears (LPE 3.91)
Can I calibrate my speedometer with the e-force handheld ?

Guys... the issue you are having is a driver conflict. 95% of the time this is caused by plugging in the device before3 downloading and installing the SCT Device Updater Software. Basically Windows installs what it "thinks" are correct drivers for the device when in fact they are not correct. So, once you install the software Windows doesn't bother with looking for the correct drivers. The "fix" for this is to manually install the drivers in Device Manager, we have instructions on our website for doing so, but I will also post a link here.

click here for updating instructions: http://www.sctflash.com/PDF/UpdatingFW_TR.pdf

Look for the section "how to manually install drivers"
