2SSRS Trade for Minivan
Yes, I know...WHAT. Well there are alot of reasons including a new blended family and we needed a larger car. But, a few things that made me no so sad about the trade are:
1) The lifters are ticking near firewall. Yes, I know they can be fixed under warranty like others said but I have been told it is the fuel pump ticking and that is normal. No way!! I dont wanna try and push the issue and then have my car torn apart. I would never think about it the same. 2) The A/C went out because of a cracked compressor. How in the world does that happen. Will it happen again? 3) The drive is not what I expected. Way to bumpy. Yes, I know it is a sports car, but it is excessive. 4) Cop magnet in the IOM color I owned. You cant tell me these cars aint profiled. 5) Worst of all is....wait for it....wait for it....THE WINDSHIELD LEAKS. Yes, it started this last month when I left it outside and let the wife park in the garage. Multiple streaks on the inside of the windshield from driver side to passenger side. I drove to dealer the next day. They said that the sunroof was not clogged nor did it fail a pressure washer test they did so they not sure where it came from. REALLY?? Well, it leaked again the other day and now I am pissed. My car keeps messing up. Quality seems to be a problem. So, I traded it on a van. The van is new and I got a really good trade in value on the Camaro. Maybe one day I will have another sports car, but it probably wont be a Camaro. Maybe an older something I can fix up and build a drive train that will be nice. Its has been fun ride, but Snosy is getting off the Camaro train. Snosy |

well you gotta do what you gotta do. hate to see that you had so many problems with the car. stick around the forums, who knows, you might reconsider later on and purchase another.

What make of minivan did you buy if I may ask? If it is a Dodge,I know first hand that the quality of the Camaro is much higher as we own a 2011 Dodge Caravan.
Also, the issues you had with the Camaro were all resolvable with a quality service department but I am sure in your mind they may not be just so the hurt of a minivan purchase feels better. PS..And I understand the need for a minivan for alot of peoples needs. Sometimes the Camaro just does not do the things we need it to do in our everyday lives.

I understand all to well the need for a mini-van... giving up a sports car for the family... although, this go around I managed to move to a Ford Flex with the Ecoboost engine... being able to run mid-13s in a 5000 pound, 6 (or 7) passenger vehicle, does take some of the sting out of it... LOL

Having wrenched on cars for a living, and owning various makes of cars over 40 years, I am the first to admit you can get a lemon/faulty car regardless of make.
As this is my first Chevy in 41 years, I hope you had the 'exception' not the average example. Hope mine fares better! Best of luck, and hopefully you'll be back. |

Sounds like you made the right choice since you're unhappy. You should have gotten a van from beginning. I have 4 kids and made sure to have a van paid for before I got into a sports car. I'd never get a camaro as my primary family car even if I only had 1 kid. I think the camaro is super comfortable on the stock suspension. It feels like my old Nissan Maxima sedan over bumps.

These cars aren't profiled. I have no front plates in a state that requires them, my car isn't the quietest one on the road, and yes it's quite "visible" compared to many other vehicles, and yet in the two years I've had mine I haven't been pulled over. Maybe you were doing things to draw attention to yourself. Nothing is perfect, and in mass produced automobiles you're gonna run into occasional oversites in quality control. I would've been aggravated too if my windshield did that, but it's something that could've been taken care of. Good luck with your new vehicle. |
